The recruiting dead period is finally over and Northwestern’s recruiting is coming back to life.

On Friday, the Wildcats host a pair of 2020 Dedham (Mass.) Noble and Greenough School prospects, four-star offensive lineman Drew Kendall and three-star linebacker Casey Phinney, as reported on WildcatReport.

On Saturday, the program is hosting a mix of 2020 commitments and 2021 prospects for its annual recruiting barbecue.

With 16 players already committed in a 2020 class currently ranked 28th in the country by Rivals, Northwestern coaches are taking it slow with rising senior prospects, though they did offer three-star DeSoto (Texas) WR Lawrence Arnold on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are working diligently on a number of 2021 prospects. Four of them will be in Evanston on Saturday and three of them are offensive linemen, as OL coach Kurt Anderson continues to get the big -- and we mean BIG – men on campus.

WildcatReport has learned from sources that the following 2021 targets are expected at the barbecue:

Garrett Dellinger
Three-star tackle
6-foot-6, 265 pounds
Clarkston (Mich.)
The skinny:
Northwestern has yet to offer Dellinger, but plenty of impressive programs have, including Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame. He is part of a dynamic tackle duo at Clarkston with four-star Rocco Spindler, who has offers from many of those same programs. Dellinger has already visited Notre Dame three times and says that Michigan is sure to be in the picture to the end.

Bennett Pitcher
Three-star (ahem) tight end
6-foot-9, 275 pounds
Deerfield (Mass.)
The skinny:
Yet another Mass. target, Pitcher is 6-foot-9 and 275 pounds but says he wants to play tight end in college. That seems doubtful at best, but Pitcher already has 14 offers, ranging from the Ivy League to Ohio State, and he says all are for tight end. He said back in May that OSU, Cal and UCLA were “big” in his recruiting picture. His father went to Princeton, so academics are important to him, and you can bet that NU will sell its “best of both words” proposition.

Teddy Prochazka
Four-star tackle
6-foot-9, 282 pounds
Elkhorn (Neb.) South
The skinny:
At 6-foot-9 with good feet and athleticism, it’s easy to see why Prochazka is ranked as the No. 43 player in the nation and is one of the most sought after linemen in the Midwest, if not the country. He has eight offers, all from Power Five programs. He named Nebraska, Kansas State and Northwestern as three programs that stand out to him back in May. The Huskers don’t lose many homegrown talents, so expect them to be the primary competition.

Najee Story
Four-star defensive end
6-foot-3, 230 pounds
Solon (Ohio)
The skinny
: Story is an elite defensive target and the No. 67 player in the country. His 11-school offer list includes Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State. The home-state Buckeyes figure to be tough to beat for Story. He has visited Columbus several times and also took at trip to Notre Dame in June. The Wildcats have built an impressive stable of DEs in recent years, but Story would be the best prospect of the bunch.

There will be several 2020 commits on hand to help recruit the next class of prospects, as well as to build bonds with each other. The commitments expected to be in attendance are:

QB Aidan Atkinson

DE Jaiden Cameron

DT TeRah Edwards (he is a maybe)

LS Will Halkyard (walkon)

SB Marshall Lang

LB Xander Mueller

OL Peter Skoronski

SB Hunter Welcing

OL Ben Wrather
