I prefer our 2-1 record over 3-1 Indiana or Minnesota.
Beat Penn State.
Beat Penn State.
If the Cats win at Penn St. you know it’s a magical season.I’m a happy camper. I wanted at least 1-1 with two good games. Ok - one game not so good but W-L at the end of the day.
These guys can beat anyone, can lose to anyone. And I have to say Berry has shown a lot more than I expected. I was wrong on him. But I was also high on hunger and mart and those bets are looking good.
Happy valley is a tough place for the cats. Really want to see them take this one.
PSU has been a thorn in our side since Ed Debevic (sic) was coach thereIf the Cats win at Penn St. you know it’s a magical season.
Dechellis (Sp?)PSU has been a thorn in our side since Ed Debevic (sic) was coach there
I ate there once. Kinda rude.PSU has been a thorn in our side since Ed Debevic (sic) was coach there
BB shut down a very hot hand to zero points, zero rebounds and a handful of TOs. And still hung double digits on him and filled out the stat sheet including a couple big 3s.Berry's D tonight made a serious impact on their O, and his O was stellar.
Berry def was MVB tonight. Bundled great offense AND defense.Berry's D tonight made a serious impact on their O, and his O was stellar.
Disagree - this is a season-altering game. MSU is 19 in KenPom despite their record and we took them apart and beat them up.Huge, impressive response win. Didn’t NEED it, but boy it’s nice to have. 2-1 to start the conference slate vs those 3 teams is really solid.
I’m with you but in that it defines NU as a legit team. We need a quality B1G road win now. PSU can fit that need while attacking a monkey that’s been hanging on our back for too long.Disagree - this is a season-altering game. MSU is 19 in KenPom despite their record and we took them apart and beat them up.
PSU on the road, early midweek game, also a challenge. Need to get that road W and avoid another bad loss.
It’s a Quad 1 win by NET ranking also. We’re now 3-2 in Quad 1 (wins over Purdue, Dayton, MSU) which is important for the committee.Disagree - this is a season-altering game. MSU is 19 in KenPom despite their record and we took them apart and beat them up.
No, NU did need this win.Huge, impressive response win. Didn’t NEED it, but boy it’s nice to have. 2-1 to start the conference slate vs those 3 teams is really solid.
Some have WI in that discussion. This was a HUGE win tonight. Illinois currently looks to be the best team in the B1G. Yes, must beat PSU, but Wisconsin may tell the tale.
Disagree that it was a true must win. But it’s a big one.No, NU did need this win.
NU NEEDS every win they can get.Disagree that it was a true must win. But it’s a big one.
Isn't that the diner?PSU has been a thorn in our side since Ed Debevic (sic) was coach there
Who is this MN you speak of? /sBB shut down a very hot hand to zero points, zero rebounds and a handful of TOs. And still hung double digits on him and filled out the stat sheet including a couple big 3s.
The returning guys - BB, Mart, Lang and Hunger have us well set for next year. Just need a QB. And if MN and Berry return….woah nelly
Better beat PSU because Wisky will be very difficult in Madison. We can argue about whether last night was a "MUST" win, but we can all agree that it got NU back on track after a shaky few weeks. Let's beat PSU and Wisconsin!
And no one can deny that it was a thrashing. There were none of the usual excuses people might make (refs bad, someone got hurt, fluke shot, etc.) when NU wins. It was a thrashing of a very talented team.I'm good with any NU teams that CAN win, like this team. For the season, the W against MSU was huge. Lose that and the basketball world thinks the more NU changes, the more they stay the same. They can be a nuisance, but they can't compete. But with the W, just the opposite applies!
Exactly. The equation for the tournament is clear: win the remaining 8 home games and get 1 or 2 on the road and the Cats are March Madness bound.WR IS a real home court advantage at last. Looks like a really good party in there.
I'm not even remotely well informed about such things, but my butt is spitting out the opinion that it will take 12 to dance10-10 in conference play = Dancing
And we may have won the 2 toughest conference home games already.
Gotta win at least 11. Would be cool to go 13-7 and better. It's possible.I'm not even remotely well informed about such things, but my butt is spitting out the opinion that it will take 12 to dance
Last year 11-9 MI was left out, so were 10-10 Rutgers and PSU. Conference is lower ranked this year.
Michigan's best wins last year were at Northwestern and at Rutgers.Did 11-9 Michigan have a win as good as Purdue? I'm sure they didn't have a loss as bad Chicago State, but a win against a #1 team (in either year) will always look good on a resume of a team with 19 wins I suppose.
I'd rather win 12 to erase all doubt, but there's a long way to go.
This is heavily informed by quality of wins, the unevenness of schedules, nonconference performance, etc. building a resume is the ticket, you can’t just stack up conference win percentages and assume everybody makes the dance in that order and then allocate bids based on conference strength. Everybody always seems to want to do the last of those in particular, and it simply isn’t how it works.I'm not even remotely well informed about such things, but my butt is spitting out the opinion that it will take 12 to dance

The difficulty of the remaining schedule is in constant flux. Maryland looked like a bad draw to have twice this year but now those look like games NU needs to be winning. Minnesota was supposed to be a must-win pushover but they at least have some pluck and won’t just play dead.Looking at the schedule, I think we're favored in all our remaining home games except Illinois. Maybe we blow one and win 8 at home. I see a legit shot at six road games, and maybe we steal another from MSU or Wis. 12 to 15 wins in conference is optimistic, but not out of the reasonable range.
