WildcatReport looks back at Sept. 2, 1995, the day the Wildcats set the college football world on its ear by stunning Notre Dame.

Story: 20 years ago today...

Favorite memories:

Without thinking I wore a Black Watch patterned shirt so folks thought I was cheering for the Irish. An NU fan by us said, "Hey, he's a Northwestern fan!"

The expression on that annoying, smug kid who was cheering for ND when he knew it was over.

The first and last time my ND son would say, "I guess it would be kind of cool to see Northwestern upset Notre Dame."

The Wildcat fans cheering the workers as they loaded the NU equipment truck after the game.

Calling my parents.

Running to buy the program after I realized it was a keeper.

The more I think about it, the more I can see parallels between that team and this 2015 version.....

- A talented running back who can rack up 100+ yd games in 8-12 yard chunks
- A tall, solid WR who can make a big play down the field
- An emerging star at middle linebacker who's ready to really burst out on the scene
- A tough group of veteran DL guys
- An extremely talented defensive backfield

The holes, unfortunately, are a QB with some experience and ready to be a leader (though we don't know that Clayton can't become that in his first season - just less likely), and fantastic special teams (kickers, returners).

So, we may not go undefeated in BiG play, but I am ready to be surprised!
