Here are a few recruiting nuggets I picked up recently from working the phones:

- 2016 RB Kene Nwangwu of Frisco (Texas) Heritage is finalizing his official visit to Northwestern. It could be as early as next week, though he is not sure yet. His top two schools are still Northwestern and Kansas. He plans to visit Lawrence "around October."

- 2017 ATH Scott Nelson of Detroit (Mich.) University Jesuit picked up an offer from Northwestern recently as a wide receiver or safety. I am scheduled to interview the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder tonight.

- 2017 OT Joel Honigford of Sugarcreek (Ohio) Garraway is working on scheduling a visit to Northwestern this fall. He was contacted by the Wildcats on Sept. 1 and his recruiter is Adam Cushing. He is getting interest from eight Big Ten schools and a couple other Power Five programs.

- 2018 WR Micah Jones of Gurnee (Ill.) Warren is certain to be a top national recruit in a couple years. The 6-foot-4, 183-pounder already has offers from NU, Iowa and Vanderbilt. He visited NU for the Stanford game and Michigan State for the Oregon game last Saturday. After a lot of back-and-forth, I am scheduled to talk to him on Thursday.

- Also, 2017 OL Nick Bart of Barrington (Ill.) (hometown kid) calls Northwestern a dream school in this EdgyTim story on The Ticker.
