Playing UCLA and Oregon on the lakefront makes sense. Not that many local alums from those two schools in Chicago although if Oregon wins the national title, there could be quite a bit of general interest in that game.

Big Ten teams, especially middling Big Ten teams, should never ever schedule a remotely challenging game in the nonconference ever again, even once, ever. We should play the three weakest teams possible every year, and always at home.

Scheduling patsies is as old as time.

They might not be patsies when we play them. We lose a lot of talent from a team that couldn't make a bowl game. The ULM game might be tougher than we think. If we can't snag some gems from the portal or NIL, next year's team might be worse than this year's!!! Sorry, but the straight up 3 star recruit collection isn't going to make us really all that better. We might luck out with finding some real diamonds in the rough, but it hasn't happened in a while.
