Another important thread bites the dust. If it weren't so pathetic, it would be kind of comical.

Tick tock - more views bite the dust. Knock, knock - who’s there? Mr Yahoo? I’m sure we will find a way to draw traffic. Folks love to circle and spend money for silly homer circle jerks.

What have you missed--there aren't any rules anymore.
There are rules, there are just people determined to not follow them. From a previous post:

Here's my "rules" for posting, as far as what is reasonably possible for an unpaid moderator with a full time job and two elementary school aged kids to maintain:
The Rock - to be used for premium articles, recruiting discussions, more pointed analysis relating to individual players and games with more leeway for frustration
Free boards - should be used to discuss the respective sports, I.e football for football, men's and women's basketball for basketball, and all other sports for the other sports board.
What causes post deletion - unwarranted personal attacks on other posters or players (current or former), racist/hatred/political nonsense designed to inflame, posts that have no other issues but which quote a post that has been deleted.
What causes thread locking - continuous back and forth nonsense because people are unable to resist getting the last word in, a post that has a crapload of cleanup to handle so that it doesn't continue to get out of hand. Threads can be and often are unlocked.

I'm not sure why you would post the same thing that was previously deleted. The comments by a different university's president in regards to the Middle East have no bearing on the purpose of these boards.

I meant in life. Of course there are still rules in golf and football.

Cappy, With two kids in school, a full time job and the time you spend herding (small c) cats, you have a saint for a wife and/or spend a lot of time in the dog house.

The problem here should be obvious.
"unwarranted"

When people (including me) post dumb stuff, is it really a personal attack to call it out as dumb?
Or does your reaction depend on who posted it?

If somebody criticizes a player - lets say "I don't think Buie cares enough about the team"
Is that really something that needs to be deleted?

Where are you going with all of this intervention?

Its almost completely unnecessary and a radical departure from where things were a year ago.

You're doing fine, Cap. I'm sure a number of my posts and threads have been locked or deleted, but it's not important. We're just a bunch of geezers railing about an insignificant football program

I have two older brothers, and played hockey and rugby. I’ve been called “dumb” so many times, I think it’s my middle name.

HJ, As a former elementary school teacher in another life, I feel compelled to point out that if Dumb is your middle name it should be capitalized.
See what I mean??!!

You mean the moving target?
What moving target? It was a thread on the NORTHWESTERN FOOTBALL BOARD about the PRESIDENT OF UPENN issuing a statement on ISRAELI/PALESTINIAN issues taking place now in the world. It was 1. off topic and 2. political, neither of which have been allowed on these boards for a while now. Then, the thread descended into the same political stuff re: Schill and his statement or non-statement, etc.

It was never going to last as a thread. I just don’t understand why people keep posting stuff that’s so obviously going to get deleted.

Call it the Instagram effect.

But thats not why most people are confused / frustrated.

It’s the micro-management.
There are 3 things to keep track of:
1. Don’t post political content.
2. Don’t be an asshole.
3. Don’t be a troll.

Cleaning up messes after grown people can’t follow simple rules is not micro management, it’s moderation.

I can only assume this is the direction Lou wants for the site. They got rid of the Rant Board, so there's no dedicated board to allow off-topic posts. They fear a slippery slope into chaos if they allow "some" of it to sprout on the football board. Sometimes, Cappy allows threads to "run their course" before locking them if he thinks that will be the end of them. Other times he has a no-tolerance policy for certain topics. We can't just allow EVERYTHING on the football board, right?

Cappy is taking the heat, but I think he's implementing the policy Lou decided on. The censorship started under FloridAlum and has continued under Cappy.

Politics haven’t been allowed since the creation of the rant board to provide a home for such things so move it over…

*ducks*

And all three of those things having varying definitions depending on who controls the narrative. Kinda like disinformation has morphed into information one side doesn’t want to be heard.

And soon Lou will paid as well as Cappy and we will be bantering on the insidenu comment section.

Your rules #2 and #3 are broken all the time and the moderator allows them.
They are not rules on this board, depending on who posted.

My guess is that you define #2 as someone who disagrees with you and #3 as someone who has pointed out the flaws in something you posted.
That seems to be how people define those words.

The rule used to be "nothing offensive."
That was easy enough.
Now its censorship of content based on what opinion was stated, with all sorts of things being declared off-limits.

Some people just don't understand context.

🤷🏻‍♂️ We’d be better off today if we had stricter moderation a few years back.

I wish we could still have the rant board for that reason. Alas, an enterprising Carl Richardson like figure took it upon himself to make its existence untenable and freely admitted to doing so. Now we’re here.

How’s that lawsuit going?

As I have said, the censorship started under FloridAlum, with Lou surely on board.

Or we can call it "aggressive moderation" instead of censorship if you prefer.
I think if those folks were previously quicker on some matters, we would likely still have the rant board, where a lot of what people are complaining about now could be housed.

I wouldn’t even call it aggressive, just involved.

I don't quite know what you're getting at. (Sorry, sometimes I'm slow.) What I seem to remember was the last straw was one poster potentially doxing another, and IGNORE2 was NOT involved in that particular exchange.
