Cats look like world beaters in the first half, and just hold on in the second for a win over the Mizzou Tigers.

We need to develop a backup point guard. When BMac fouled out - the offense stopped working.

Calling Mr. Ash!

Wasn't working well before that. Poor job of adjusting in the second half by Collins.

Does Demps even know he has teammates? He still looks like he's playing horse out there against our opponent.

Which guy who cannot shoot would you like him to pass to???

Falzon, Lindsey (I think shoots better off the pass than dribble and needs to learn to go to the hole), Olah in the post, even Skelly and he might just get it back with a cut

The team shot 44% from three-point range and Demps only made one of those threes. 47% from the field total.

I wish they would make more of an effort to feed the post. Van Zegeren was working has butt off down to establish there, including a nice up-and-under move. Everytime time Olah slips back into passive Alex mode, I wish they would insert him.

All that said, Demps was 5-9 field and I didn't see any awful shots from him.

Ash is at least a year away and is a lot more raw than Sobo or BMC was when they came in. I think Demps is better without bringing the ball up, and definitely not bringing the ball up when the game is on the line. Much better to pass to Demps imo. Don't get me wrong, we have to use Demps in this role to give BMC a break as there really isn't anyone else.

Don't believe that BMac will foul out often unless he has this officiating crew every night. There was virtually no contact on one alleged foul; and on another there was a ton of contact; by the Missouri players' elbow with BMac;

You almost never see a star player whistled for 5 fouls in that fashion that early, and there is a reason for that....

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Justin Jackson, North Carolina (MVP); Justin Edwards, K-State; Kamau Stokes, K-State; Brice Johnson, North Carolina; Tre Demps, Northwestern

calling Johnny Vassar

Ash is already way further than Vassar was. Ash plays solid D and doesn't play out of control on offense and doesn't turn it over. He's definitely not ready yet to take point and run the offense through himself, but I like him...

The game seems to be slowing down for Jordan. He looked pretty confused and out of control in his first game, but not the last 2 games. Just needs a shot or two to fall to get a confidence boost. Had that 3 rim out against UNC I think......

Ash made a three last night and looks confident taking the shot. I don't believe he played much point guard at St. Joes, so he will have to work his way into the role of backup for BMAC. I'm sure the coaches are more confident with Demps in that role right now even if he does tend to dribble too much. The new rule eliminating the 5 second count helped Tre wind down the clock down the stretch with the ball in his hands.

Saw Ash play a couple times last year and he was the guy that made St. Joe's go. Saying he's not a point guard isn't untrue, but is misleading. He doesn't yet have the incredible handle but he has a game sense that's unusually mature. What I noticed the last couple of times is how patient he is in letting things develop while the ball is in his hand. Two feet on the floor and great vision, giving the post time to open up. He also kept his man in front of him on D.

Thought B Mac was much better distributor last night -- not shooting open looks to get teammates involved -- but he could lower his turnovers with just a little more patience. I'm not sure that NU's post players have enough skill to play at B Mac's speed.
