A few observations

It was not his best game, but he did come up for a loose ball by diving on the floor, and a move like that will always endear him to this fan, as well as many others. He'll have better games but I admire the hustle. He'll be at least a poor man's Barnhizer by the time he's a senior.
Lat nights game against USC was not very good either. Reality is that he is a Frosh and Frosh with limited experience tend to be inconsistent so something we have to live with.

One problem Collins faced before the Wisconsin game was figuring out a rotation.

Barnhizer had been on the court for maybe 90% of the minutes against the Big Ten, so there wasn't a lot to go on - with Mullins or Ciaravino replacing Barnhizer. The starting lineup of Nicholson/Martinelli/Barnhizer/Ciarvino/Leach had been playing very well as a unit
(80-54 over 41:43) but that is gone.

The best chance for us to be competitive is that Ciaravino or Windham starts making shots. Or Mullins, I suppose.

We need something respectable from Hunger or Fitzmorris - something other than an ass-kicking.

Maybe Collins will finally try Hunger at the 4. I would be so proud of him - no matter what happens.

I admit that it isn't a lot to hang your hat on.
Mullins did well last night. And Fitzmorris has been showing more O recently. Nicholson has the dunk and not a whole lot more . His D is what keeps him on the floor. But Fitzmorris has shown more and more on the O end lately, At the beginning of the season he was more of a stiff but as he has had more time he is earning minutes (at the expense of Hunger at this point) His improvement at the O end started a few games ago with a couple of those 8 ft hooks but his O game has expanded over the last few games as he has had more time on the court at this level. And his enthusiasm is contagious. Nicholson's D definitely makes him the starter but Fitzmorris is earning minutes

I thought Fitzmorris was expected to have some O. I recall in the first game vs Lehigh, Fitzmorris got in and starting firing up some shots. Collins told him he doesn’t need to shoot every time and it didn’t seem like he got another chance until it was necessary.

I agree, early days Keenan took a bunch of shots - like he was trying to earn playing time - and coach benched him. But he has a nice hook shot and the range can be surprising. He's (normally) a terrible FT shooter tho, and that's a problem for him. Last night was very exciting to me on that front. I think his minutes until recently were mostly him being mindful of getting benched for shooting and so focusing on distribution, but he's realized he is allowed to shoot within the offense.

Matt has actually shown a bit of post move spin and soft-touch layups, he just doesn't do it. I suspect that's mostly because he's playing close with Nick and so there are almost always three guys right there ready to strip him if he puts it on the deck. iirc last night he got his own rebound and laid it in off the backboard.
