Say what you want but Jim coached in the NFL and Rex Ryan and Eric Mangini said he’s a brilliant defensive mind. I tend to think the issue was talent not Jim.

Troll.

JON had never, in five tries, coordinated a defense that was anything but very, very bad.

Jim doesn’t need a job. He’s getting paid by Northwestern to hang out with his beautiful wife and kids.
This is Jim, isn’t it?

Can’t believe you got a three-year deal.

I just heard the Glenview House closed again. Bummer.

Grasping at rationales for his complete failure doesn’t change that he failed miserably. Talent not matching system was exposed within the first games of his tenure. His defense continued to be exposed and he wasn’t able to adapt over the seasons that he was DC

it’s pretty clear Fitz didn’t let Jim run his system because it’s too complex for the assistants and players to understand
Assuming you're right, and assuming Fitz is right, that's an indictment of JON, not Fitz and not the assistants. A leader can't be so inflexibly wedded to a system that people can't use. If it's "too complex" you ought to fix or junk the system.

I find it hard to believe that NU players, who by-the-books are some of the most intelligent in college football, can't understand an NFL system because it's too complex. Can't _execute_ the system effectively because it's built for people with a different talent level, now that would make sense.
