Even 10-15 minutes of action when he's available back would be hugely helpful... BMac just played a full 40 and Vic played all of it until fouling out in the last minute. Having Scottie available to spell each of those guys for 5-7 minutes would help their legs a lot I'm sure. Heal up Scottie!Even if he were cleared for Wednesday, he'd be limited in minutes and with very little practice or conditioning. Hopefully he'll be cleared later this week and can get some conditioning in.
In the first half refs pretty much let them play. I don't think either team was in the bonus in first half.IMO a big part of the Wisconsin win was staying out of foul trouble.
If Lindsay is sick with Mono why has he been on the bench the past 2 games and why traveling with the team? He must not be contagious, seeing he had his arm around Ash on the bench and high fiving everyone. Don't get it. Should be at home resting if he's ill.
Does his mono have anything to do with the back pain he reportedly had just before he went out?
as much as it pains me since we are so damn close to our first bid, it's best for Scottie.

Hopefully they won't have to do it without Lindsey but these delays have to be worrisome. Would have loved to see him back tonight but if he's still not ready, then also keep him out of the Rutgers game. NU will need him more against Indiana and yes even Illinois next week.as much as it pains me since we are so damn close to our first bid, it's best for Scottie.
We fans will live if we collapse and miss the tourney. A ruptured spleen can be deadly.
We made it to the Rose Bowl with Fitz out. We'll do the same with Scottie out.
Coach Collins confirmed in his media time yday that Scottie would not be playing against Maryland tonight."A team source"? What kind of reporting is that? if you're going to use an unnamed source, describe the source with a level of specificity that gives the reader some inkling about how credible the source is. "A team source" could be the waterboy or one of the ushers. Teddy does this all the time. That's why he gets his stories wrong so often.
And quite frankly, since this is a kid's health, anybody who IS talking is talking out of turn (perhaps illegally), which makes whatever they say all that much more suspect in the first place - because if they really know what they're talking about, they know they're not supposed to talk about it.

That fact that Teddy believed the source gives it as much credibility as I need. He's Medill trained and has been around this program as long as anyone outside of Larry Watts. And despite your snark, he's right just about every time."A team source"? Thanks. I didn't know that.
That's fine, I guess But why the unnamed source, then? Habit?
Well to be fair to your original point I think Teddy stated he wasn't playing from the unnamed team source sometime Monday before the press conference where Collins confirmed it yday morning. So maybe you can complain about that? I dunno, will leave it to other people who know Medill rules better than me...Thanks. I didn't know that.

Maybe overrated in that you don't have to have it to live, but that does not mean it cannot cause problems. I guess it could burst which might require surgery to remove it and could take one out of commission for a number of weeks or months to get back to full speed. I think, long term, it might have something to do with the immune system and reserve of blood but I am guessing. Still better to have it I guess.I always thought spleens were overrated, but I guess I will reconsider.
My biggest concern about Scottie is his conditioning when he returns. Does mono cause you to lose weight?
I don't know if it causes weight loss but it likely prevents workouts and at bare minimum, he won't be in game shape.I always thought spleens were overrated, but I guess I will reconsider.

Didn't we hear he was feeling fine and they were just waiting for the spleen inflammation to subside? If so, the travel would likely not be an issue and I doubt he was contagiousI've been wondering the same thing. If you're sick you're sick and you should not be putting extra strain on yourself by traveling, staying up late,
getting spotty sleep, etc. that comes with traveling.
Correct. Also, mono is contagious in the early stages when the symptoms are developing, not later when you are in the process of recover. And even then is contagious through transfer of bodily fluids (most notably saliva), not transferable like most normal illnesses are. As someone said - if he were actively contagious the doctors would not have him with the team obviously.Didn't we hear he was feeling fine and they were just waiting for the spleen inflammation to subside? Hopefully they have improved treatment since thenSeverity varies. Mono cancelled out one entire summer for me when I was 20. It took a couple weeks to figure out I was sick (my childhood pediatrician thought I was just missing college), then I spent several weeks sleeping 16 hours a day: Got up early to go to my summer job for about 5 hours, was back in bed asleep by 1pm. Woke up for dinner, then back to bed. I definitely didn't lose any weight, but I wasn't at 100% until the very end of summer. It seems like Scottie is on a better trend, knock on wood.
Anyone who watched the Illinois game was covering their mouth frequently with a towel.Noted that for the Illinois game he was on the bench but covering his mouth frequently with a towel. For the Wisconsin game no such precautions and was enjoying the fun.
