Bajakian named Utah interim OC

I wonder how taking the elevated position, even temporarily, might impact his lawsuit with NU. Even though he was fired he landed a job with Utah, a solid major program. Just seems like the move undercuts his complaint against NU.
His lawsuit is wildly feckless. The whole play is to hope NU doesn’t want to push it and just settles. Anyone can see that.

The problem may not have been Bajakian, but rather Fitz.

Bajakian couldn't get a job as an Offensive Coordinator after NU fired him.
So he took an analyst position with Utah. Definitely a career setback.
He sued NU, claiming they had damaged his reputation (the character part).
And that, of course, is true, at least to some degree.

Getting promoted to "interim" Offensive Coordinator at Utah will probably reduce his claim because it obviously wasn't devastating damage to his reputation, in that he got an opportunity to "re-prove" himself. Maybe, in the end, people will just remember how badly NU treated some loyal football coaches.

We’ll see. I hope NU doesn’t bend over and settle and actually fights this. Sure, it’s riskier from a $ perspective it’s worth the juice to save face and set the record straight.
Virtually no chance these cases go to trial. They will all settle, mostly like with NDAs.

Utah went scoreless in the second half, blowing a 21-10 lead to lose to BYU, 22-21.

They’ve scored 17 and 21 points in two losses.

I assume the AD conveniently neglected to mention the facemask call against BYU that was clearly in error benefitting UTAH. It killed a likely scoring drive that in retrospect would have likely won the game for BYU.

One could view the controversial end of the game holding call against Utah as an unintended make up call.

That's one where emotion got the better of professionalism. I didn't see the game, so maybe there was a bad call in the end, but it's hardly the only time that's happened. Every fan base in America can remember that one call that cost their team a game. He'll enjoy that fine now to go along with the loss.
Just found the clip on YouTube. The Utah defender was definitely grabbing the BYU receiver down the field. Maybe you could argue he didn't really impede the receiver and it should have been a non call, but it wasn't the worst call in the world worthy of such a display by the AD.

Looks even uglier on the field. Utah must have gone off on the ref at the end because they got an Unsportsmanlike penalty as the final whistle blew. You saw some Utah official or just sideline hanger-oner with credentials pointing and yelling at the ref as he was making the call. Then Utah's head coach was too busy yelling at the refs that he appeared to blow off the BYU head coach.

I get the frustration. We've all been there with a team at one point or another where we feel like we were robbed, but coaches (and ADs) are supposed to be better than that. Good lord... Utah is 4-5 this year. I know BYU is a rival, but it's not like this game was for a championship or something.

NU lost a game in 1994 to Ohio State on just such a call. The Cats flattened the Buckeye quarterback on fourth down, but they called a very questionable defensive holding that gave them a second chance and that TD gave them a 17-15 win.
