I started a thread last year about his free throw issues. He came out of it last year so hopefully he gets his touch back. He goes through periods where he is always short on his misses. He plays so unbelievably hard. I would love to see him get his stroke back so scoring doesn’t require every ounce of energy he has.

His jump shot looks off as well. Like he’s backing away from the target and arming it more than shooting naturally. Could be a result of the foot injury…

Maybe. But like I said he went through the same thing last year. He is almost always short when he misses. Hope he has a stretch soon where his shots are consistently falling and the points come a little easier for him and the team.

Agree with the shooting, but man he gives you so much effort. I thought one of the plays of the game was early in the second half where he ran essentially from the baseline to track down a rebound near mid court and then I believe he scored after that. What a beast.

He’s tired, as he’s played a lot, and is relentless. When you get tired, especially in the legs, you start shouting the ball a little short. We’ve now seen this in the last few games, as the minutes continue to pile up. He missed so much of the preseason and early season games, it’s likely he couldn’t get the real base conditioning level he’d like and really needs, especially when playing as much and as hard as he does. We’ve got a real dilemma, because it’s so necessary for him to be on the court for us to win. Hope CCC can figure out how to get him a little more rest. Go Cats!

He finally started working back on his game in second half, A guy i my area indicated he thought in the past Barney was going straight up and then letting it go, Now he thought when up he tended to go back with the ball before he let it go.

I gotta imagine that he is dinged up and that is affecting his game

The FT panic started at MI. And he did not shoot FT poorly in that game. It was not great, but it was the timing, when he missed them, that stood out.

He'll get back to being a decent, if not excellent, FT shooter. I am more concerned he gets into the solid 30's on his 3's. It makes the game so much easier for him and the rest of the team.

Something about his wrist also.

All I know is you can tell clearly by his mechanics when a shot is going down and when it's not.

I just wish he'd hold back on the 3s a bit until he gets his stuff straight. He's almost shot NU out of a couple games. OTOH, a) Shooters gotta shoot (I think) and, b) There aren't a whole lot of other options - especially when NM is resting.
