I'm cautiously optimistic!
Interesting schedule. The non-BIG Ten games that do not involve a pre-season tournament (Gavitt, BIG/ACC challenge/Cancun) are attempts at scheduled wins: Chicago State, NIU, Prairie View, UIC, and Brown. The only potential loss in this group is DePaul. The pre-season tournament games are against four weak teams (Purdue Fort Wayne, Liberty, Georgetown and Pitt) and one strong team (Auburn) if they get that far in the Cancun tournament. The Big Ten season is going to be difficult for the Cats. We only get to play the bad teams (Nebraska, Minnesota and Penn State) once each this year. We will play one of them once more in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament. I see 12-13 wins this year, 4-5 in the Big Ten .I'm excited to actually be able to finally go to games
As the football team proved on Saturday, ANY team that plays NU is a “potential loss.”Interesting schedule. I don’t have the energy to learn about other programs (too much commitment to figure out when teams are playing), so I’ll be following NU and hoping for wins. Does that count? Thanks, Phatcat, for being the one person who is trying to look forward to something this year. I'm hoping Buie can take another step and MAYBE Audige had more injury issues than we knew last year.
In the meantime, this recent annual garbage of going out of your way to state the obvious and kill the team before the first practice does nothing for the program. Great fans.
So now the fans are killing the team because they state what you call the obvious? The reality is the team will perform how they perform whether us fans think they’ll be terrific or terrible. We have zero bearing on W or L’s. I would personally love to be wrong and the team will rise from the doldrums. Thanks, Phatcat, for being the one person who is trying to look forward to something this year. Great athletic department too. Guess it’sa perfect match. As long as they don’t need our money. Thanks, Phatcat, for being the one person who is trying to look forward to something this year. I'm hoping Buie can take another step and MAYBE Audige had more injury issues than we knew last year.

Giving CCC one more year was not ridiculous. Gragg’s statement that set the program up to fail for the next X years is what was ridiculous. This team will stink this year. NU did the cheap ass thing and didn’t terminate CCC’s contract. Literally no one feels they will turn it around this year, so go ahead and waste a season in returning players careers and in recruiting. It’s an injustice to the returning players especially when the AD basically fired the Coach without firing him. You get what you deserve. This board will be fun all year! Ridiculous operation of what is supposed to be a P6 program.
I’m sorry, but everyone can see that the students don’t care (and they do when the team isn fun), two key contributors left willingly, the arena is empty, the recruits aren’t P5 quality, the coach has no new ideas, the coach chooses his rotation based on star ratings, there is no consequence when his favorites take bad shot after bad shot, and the program has been on a steady downward trajectory since failing to follow up on their historic unicorn season. My statement isn't about fans who actually want to show some support and even the slightest glimmer of hope in the toughest seasons. But that's not what's been happening here. Not even close. And it's not the first September of this garbage.
As for the idea that fans have no impact on Ws and Ls, I couldn't disagree more - especially in college.
God love the NU coach who can sell a recruit when a 7000 seats arena has rarely been filled for decades, the fans are as quiet as mice, the student and midcourt seats are 50% filled and the loudmouth portion of the fan base goes out of its way sh*t all over the coach every September.
Yes, fans have an impact on the energy of a program, and it will take a miracle for Collins to get back even a portion of the laughably small base.
But I understand it's just another complexity the board will ignore while it pretends a coach should be able to win here just like any other program.

If a message board post convinces a recruit who is otherwise intending to attend Northwestern, well, I’d be shocked. (Hi Mr. Carr, we hope your son joins the program!)
Often? Can you give me three recent examples?Giving CCC one more year was not ridiculous. Gragg’s statement that set the program up to fail for the next X years is what was ridiculous.
I don’t like our chances much this year, but often good things happen when a team has no obvious go-to guy.
But he did win, remember? And BC to the team too many more post seasons. Sorry to interrupt the blame the fans routine with facts. My statement isn't about fans who actually want to show some support and even the slightest glimmer of hope in the toughest seasons. Being here in CT and seeing UConn, I have little doubt that Hurley is a much better coach.UCONN just signed a 7’1” 4-star recruit to add its 3 existing 4-star recruits of its 5 total 2023 recruits. Please don’t tell me Dan Hurley is any better coach than Collins. Hurley now leverages the fact that his program comes from a winning tradition. That’s what really matters. And UCONN had about 8 guys leave the program in some capacity this last year. We lose 2 after they’ve played 7 years and people blame it on the coach!
I’ve said it many times before - Calhoun turned NU down because he said he couldn’t win here. That was about as true a statement as there is - the odds of our finding a coach who can do this, even after we built some new facilities, are infinitesimal. The only way is to change the admissions standards first, and then try to build a new tradition. Not sure we’ll ever see the first.
Then stop wasting money on the program. Just give up and share that budget with other non revenue athletics. I could do as well as CCC for a fraction of the cost.UCONN just signed a 7’1” 4-star recruit to add its 3 existing 4-star recruits of its 5 total 2023 recruits. Care to elaborate with some objective evidence?Being here in CT and seeing UConn, I have little doubt that Hurley is a much better coach.
As a neutral in this debate, what would constitute "objective evidence" wrt who's the better coach??Care to elaborate with some objective evidence?

Do wins and losses count? As a neutral in this debate, what would constitute "objective evidence" wrt who's the better coach??
Funny, I asked gordie for the same thing above. Typical, make demands and give no fvcks. 🤷♂️Care to elaborate with some objective evidence?

Who recruited the players for each team?UCONN players of note in last 5 years:
James Bouknight (NBA)
Jalen Adams
Alterrique Gilbert
Tyrese Martin (NBA)
Mamadou Diarra
Christian Vitale
RJ Cole
Akok Akok
Andre Jackson (soon to be NBA)
NU players of note in last 5 years:
Pete Nance
Any others? (Maybe Miller Kopp, Boo Buie)
Who should win (a lot) more??
You refuse to provide the examples you claimed above. WhateverDon’t you have a GD clue that we can’t recruit players like other teams due to our academic requirements? Are you an Alex Jones-type?
And yet you lauded the arrival or commitment of highly rated players. You cut CCC making the dance. Which is it?Don’t you have a GD clue that we can’t recruit players like other teams due to our academic requirements? Are you an Alex Jones-type?
Huh? You even responded to my examples of who has better players. That’s the difference in those teams - not the coach. You refuse to provide the examples you claimed above. Whatever

I do agree with “whatever” though.
Can’t give credit for good recruits unless you hold feet to fire for poor players. Which side do you want?Huh? You even responded to my examples of who has better players. That’s the difference in those teams - not the coach.
