For some reason I suspect that you are just joking. His degree is actually in communications, which is apparent by his ability to communicate with the arresting officer's.

Perhaps because those who drive drunk put others' lives at risk, so it frees you up to ridicule the guilty party without remorse. People also often say stupid and/or funny things when they're inebriated without realizing it at the time.

Yeah, Smith's responses was pretty much due to the amount he had to drink. If you do that you get what you deserve. While still wrong and just as dangerous when a kid makes such a mistake, no excuse for someone of his age.
