Brendan Sullivan CHOKE JOB at the Music City Bowl

Everyone is convinced that he had dropped to third string (4th if you include Wright). Why would he stay?

"It's the name of the game these days. You've got to compete. If you're scared of competing, then you shouldn't be playing the game. So I'm here, staying…and I'm going to continue to compete to the best of my abilities."

Shrug, according to those in the know, he isn't good enough to beat out Lausch, Wright, and (?) Gray, so who cares if he left? Reggie Fleurima couldn't get PT so he's leaving. Not hearing anything about 75% of our DBs leaving, which hurt a lot more than a 4th string QB leaving. I mean, he must have really sucked this spring to drop to third string plus an incoming transfer looming. Who in their right mind would stay for that?*

*Hilinski notwithstanding

That was literally Sullivan’s quote in response to a question about Iowa bringing in a transfer QB to compete for the starting job in 2025, just removing the “staying at Iowa” part.

What a shame! 😂 The dude quit on us because he wasn’t guaranteed the starting job. The ultimate sign of entitlement. Karma is a bitch.

Jacob gill with a huge dropped ball at the ends well.

This seems unnecessary.
Agree with @thewildcat2011.

Sully & Gill both played and worked hard for Northwestern. The first two are sad posts made by bitter old men to end a miserable and difficult year (2024).

Bring on 2025 baby. All my best to Sully & Gill. They are tough. 🇺🇸

I understand. He wants to compete for playing time. What better place than Iowa? Arguably the only worse QB situation tha ours in the B1G, and bottom 10, maybe bottom 5 in FBS. Probably worse than 25% of FCS. Like us in 2019, 2021, 22, 24.

Why stay here and be 4th string on the next worst QB situation in the B1G?

What I'm saying is I don't care because educated eyes have told me that he's no better than 4th string on this team. I don't care. Why do you care?

1) Why are you defending a kid who left NU for Iowa, then also talked shit both on his way out and on the field?
2) NU’s QB situation being worse than Iowa’s is precisely what makes his decision so dumb.

all I see in that video is the entire left side of the Iowa offensive line falling on their faces as if they were shaving points.
The worst collective blocking I've ever seen.

Mizzou laying 2.5, ahead by 3.
Mizzou timed that well. It almost looked like the snap came early, or Sully was not ready for it. But the ball was in his hand and that Mizzou defender was already airborne over the LOS and about a half-second away from landing in Sully's lap.

Enlighten us.
He wanted to play and felt he would have had a better chance at that under the previous staff than this one. Figured out pretty quickly in spring ball he wasn’t going to start and went to Iowa with a friend for a more likely playing opportunity. He stayed for spring ball to compete and felt the current coaching staff had made up their mind before the competition and knew they were planning on bringing in a transfer. He commited primarily due to Fitz. He felt he had a shot at starting prior to spring ball and the current coaching staff felt differently. So he transferred to Iowa which has a few personal connections there and a real shot at playing time.

Dude was not going to play here. I’m not going to say he should have been the starting qb but I can totally understand the transfer. He got pushed way down the depth chart post Fitz. I still stand by my comments that the original post was not necessary and a bad look.

I said Iowas's is the only one in the B1G worse than ours. The only one. Like 16 better. But not Iowa. As bad as he is, he had no choice but Iowa, right? And he got to play a lot, including a bowl game and a decisive win over us. He made the right decision instead of being 4th string. Maybe 3rd since Gray got hurt but who knew that?

I don't get too worked up about what a 22 ish kid says. He was butt hurt because he felt he'd earned it after being understudy for 2 years. So he ran his mouth. But, he got beat out fair and square and wanted to play.

GCG, I know you like the last word, so go ahead. I promise not to respond anymore

No kidding. How can anyone have a problem with that?
If anything, Sullivan's decision to leave was vindicated by what Lujan, Wright and Lausch did this past season.
To all to whom it may apply:
Let us not drag down others but start a bright new year with the understanding of possibilities and hope. I am dismayed by the attempt to denigrate Sullivan. Unnecessary and more than vulgar in nature. Show some class and intelligence in future posts.

I didn't care much when Sullivan and Gill left for Iowa. But if posters have bad feelings, particularly about Sullivan, based on his alleged reasons for leaving NU and/or comments he made on his way out the door, I could not care less if they lambast him on this Board. This Board is for intelligent (and often unintelligent) Cats-related musings.

However, I loathe Iowa. Ever since the Hayden Fry days. So, while I don't wish players ill - - which, of course, has no friggin' impact on them unless they are reading this Board during the game and give a shiite what AtlantaCat says about them - - I was pleased to see that the two ex-Cats played such a significant role in Iowa's loss.

All of the unsavory stuff about Sulky is true. He’s human, after all. I just don’t see the point of all the grave dancing here. I guess it makes some people feel good.

The world is filled with folks who feel they've been wronged by people they don't know.
And sometimes its for doing things that they themselves would do in a heartbeat.

The more I pay attention to your posts, the more I realize what a tool you are. What a guy you are getting your jollies ridiculing former NU players.
This guy’s Cicero Joe calling The Score to talk about how Caleb Williams is probably gay and how Jonathan Owens is a cuck because his wife is the best ever at her sport and he’s just okay. He’s a true tool.

No issue with Gill and surprised he’s one of their leading receivers…. Also wishing Priebe well though I’m not sure who to cheer for - Bama or Michigan. 🤔

Free country and all that but it definitely shows a lack of maturity (among other things) to shit on an NU alum who was a major part of the programs successful 2023 season.

Carry on.

…then he shit on the program repeatedly while putting on a very self-unaware diva act.

And no one seems to remember his farewell message thanking everyone on planet earth except for his coaches. He’s a bitter loser who isn’t good at football. Glad he’s not representing this program and choking for Iowa instead.

Can we see the "shit" that Sullivan supposedly dropped on NU.
Or shut up.

The bitter whiny bitches are outdoing the player they are accusing.

No. You can’t see it, because it wasn’t in public. The farewell message was kinda passive-aggressive, but far from the only thing that happened.

Then you could see it with your own eyeballs during this year’s game. Kid was actively going out of his way to talk shit to NU’s players and sideline at every opportunity. **** him.

This board? Good luck with that

That offended you? Everybody on the team in the summer of 2023 is still owed an apology from Gragg and Schill.
After that is delivered, you can be offended by former players who resent what happened to them.

Gill didn’t shit talk NU either on the way out or on the field.
Their combined actions speak louder than the QB’s words alone.

Braun made a mistake in hiring Lujan. Better OCs were available that could have retained Sully or landed someone better in 2024 for NUFB. 🤷‍♂️

Why would we have wanted to retain Sullivan?

Who would you have hired that would have realistically come to NU given the circumstances?

He won 8 games this year and played in a good bowl game. His former school won 4 and cycled through three QBs. I’m confused about where you think he lost out in this? It sure seems like he made the right call.

NW probably goes bowling if Sullivan stayed.

What you see is what you get with Sully. Feisty, competitive kid that displays some toughness. He still can’t throw the ball with any accuracy over 15 yards. I don’t consider that shitting on the kid.

I don’t like the way he left and the things that I’ve heard. I thought the taunting of his former teammates and the NU sideline was as low class as the stuff people are complaining about here. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

WE know Sully was a huge Fitz supporter. After all, where did the TShirts supporting Fitz originate? He probably was impacted by the firing as much as any player. The fact, that people on this board continued to insist Sully was Michael Vick after Jack and Lujan struggled also led to aggressive rebuttals.
