Cal is up big on Texas now. Hate to say it, but their offense is pretty darned good. Dykes's third year in Berkeley, and things are finally coming into form.

Funniest thing was a Texas player clearly faking an injury right before the half. He was running off the field, then back on, then looked at sideline, very confused, and finally fell over, grabbing his shoulder. Goff was pissed.

Texas has given up a lot of points this year (38 to Notre Dame, 28 to Rice) so I don't think it is a big surprise that Cal can score on them. Texas just isn't a good football team.

I know Texas isn't particularly good, but regardless, Goff runs Cal's offense very effectively now. They're going to mix things up in Pac12 play this year, if simply because of the points their offense will put on the board.

The end of tonight's game was quite the roller coaster. The Longhorns came back from a three TD deficit, only to miss the tying extra point with a minute left. Oops.

I wonder the chances that Strong is still their coach next year.

I think it depends on how long it takes to hire a permanent AD. An interim probably isn't going to make a move like that because a good coach might be scared away not knowing who his future boss will be. It's better to wait and let the new guy bring in "his guy." If it takes until the spring to hire a new AD, he'll stay with Strong and a very hot seat. If the new AD is hired before Christmas, strong might be gone.

Speed, speed, speed, speed, speed...

Speed, speed, speed, speed, speed.

(Sorry, I just had to do that. Hope I don't bait the Cal trolls with this comment.)

Texas has really fallen from grace recently. It really shows how even the marquee programs can fall on a hard run.

They let Grandpa Mack do no work for three years, while aTm was winning a Heisman with a dynamic young coach and while TCU was answering opportunity's knock, and while Waco was being overrun win criminals and heismans and passing yards. Kingsbury at TT is... handsome, anyway, and got a great burn in on Bielema last night.

Fact is, Texas sucks because they allowed themselves to be passed by three in state schools, out of graditude for several solid years of service from Grandpa Mack.

They owe Strong - and see what louisville is like today, in his absence - a chance. That means five years.

That doesn't mean he'll get all five though...

It doesn't help that Texas can't kick an extra point. But Miami can hit a field goal.
