Can a school be kicked out of the Big Ten?

Legally, I mean. What would it take, in theory? Is anybody here familiar enough with the rules?

If all the other schools in the conference voted to kick out that school, would that do it? Or is membership permanent unless the school leaves voluntarily? Or are there minimum standards that, if met, preclude kicking out that member, but otherwise it's fair game?

The Big Ten already missed that chance when they didn't give Pen St. the boot.
