I heard that teams were assigned hotels based on their standings with regards to proximity - in other words, the higher placed teams are closest to Gainbridge Fieldhouse and then the lower you go on the table, the farther out the team ended up.
CORRECTION: My fault - the team isn't staying in keystone crossing, so I removed that google maps link. However, they are assigned hotels based on distance.

There are thousands, literally thousands, of hotel rooms surrounding the convention center just a few blocks west of Gainbridge.

My brother-in-law law lives in a 5,000 sq. ft. home in Carmel. He has bedrooms he doesn’t know about, and he has functional AC. I’ll check to see if he wants visitors.

I used to manage some high-rise residential properties where there was central air and heat, but you could only have one system at a time. You would have to pick a point in the Spring to make the call that you are going to switch over for the season from Winter heating to Summer cooling. I would hate this time of year and around October, because you had the opposite problem where you needed to make a decision to switch from central air to central heat for the Winter season. There's always going to be a few unseasonably warm or cold days no matter what time of the year it is, so central HVAC for a whole building could be a pain to manage especially since switching back for an unseasonably cold or hot day was not an option due to the prep work needed for switchovers.
Many hotels and other properties have turned to using packaged terminal air conditioner (PTAC) units that allow for greater temperature control by the occupant, including heating or cooling, plus don't have the extensive building ductwork requirements of central HVAC.

I don't know about last night, but the high was 72 degrees in Indy today. They were saying the temp in their hotel rooms was 85 -- which I can believe because those things are typically sealed shut.
They're not playing there. That's just how far away the 13th Seed Hotel is.

I was going to say… I bet that’s it. I used to live in a building in downtown Chicago - also had C.J. Bacher and Cam Green (albeit at different times) in my building - and that was our issue on many warm spring days. The building could only choose AC or heat and I had a unit that faced west so if the AC wasn’t on and it was hot… those afternoons were sizzling lol.
Never choose an office, apartment, or hotel room that faces west. From time immemorial, the sun has risen in the East and set in the West.
That makes more sense. I hope they at least comp our breakfasts for that!

When I was a senior at NU, I was in the basketball band and we went to the women’s BTT in Indy. We were the 11 seed (when there were 11 teams) so the school didn’t bother to make a hotel reservation for the band because we weren’t supposed to win. We did win, so while we were on the bus after the game the band director was on the phone with NU getting us approved for rooms while the bus drove around aimlessly. We eventually ended up at a hotel in a rough part of Indy. We were also somehow late for the game and the cheerleaders forgot to bring the Willie suit from Evanston. Never a dull moment on Indy trips.
My house is less than half of that.
But I can pitch some tents in my backyard if needed. Guaranteed temps under 85.
USC is #14 seed and staying in the Hyatt right across the street from Gainbridge, so it's not by seeding...
Secho, I appreciate your efforts. In my time playing drums in the band at NU I went down to Indy on 7 occasions. All 4 years for the women’s tourney and 3 years for the men’s tourney (I didn’t have seniority my freshmen year to get into that role, but by sophomore year I was organizing the drummers in NUBB so I had first call). We went a rousing 0-7 under my watch. Team should have banned me from the travel band team by the time we got to my senior year. Always wanted one of those overnight stays in Indy…

Oh man just watched. Thanks for linking. That was awesome. I'm glad that Collins stood up for his team. Feel like we've taken a lot from the conference starting with the refs (not today, was called totally fair) and he clearly had finally had enough. It was time. He didn't say anything disrespectful, he just gave some clear and direct commentary - on the rooms, on the 1st team, and then alluded to some other stuff on the refs.
Well played Coach. Gonna be a tough battle tomorrow, but excited to see this team that has already fought through so much adversity, come back out and give it their best effort.

If they don't have it fixed today, three teams are now out (all the higher ranked ones lost)and one would think that their rooms would be available. It the league still has them in same place and situation is not corrected have to believe that the league wants it this way
I think the hotel issues give a bit more latitude to bitch without the risk of being fined than the officiating or All Big Ten first team honors. Well played by CCC.
Brutal, everyone in NUBB should get at least one overnighter.
I remember there were 4 of us on the trip who were 21, we agreed to walk to a very sketchy liquor store to buy beer for the youngsters who were stuck at the hotel. Then the 4 of us got in a cab and went to downtown Indy and had a great dinner and night out at the bars. Most of the band was wrecked the next day, the 'Cats got boat raced and we slept the whole ride home.
