Chicago/Evanston Hotel Question?

I hear that Cornell and Dmouth campuses are really pretty in summer and early fall. The rest of the time dreary, depressing and icky. Princeton and Harvard are nice year round imo. Yale and Penn are the worst. The part of Philly that Penn is in is worse than the surrounding neighborhoods of U of Chi. Very dangerous and crime/drug ridden. Stanford and Duke are the only campuses of elite colleges that are nicest other than NU.
What part of Philly proper does not fit that description? I've visited several times recently by necessity and felt unsafe walking the streets even in Center City.

Neither Dartmouth nor Cornell is as highly rated academically as NU. Dartmouth in Hanover New Hampshire literally is in the middle of nowhere. Cornell is closer to some fun activities, but nothing remotely approaching Chicago.

I think Yale is gorgeous. I love going down there to visit and walk around. Every building looks like its out of medieval Europe. New Haven has its charms and damn good pizza!

Duke is in Durham, NC and more broadly in the Raleigh, NC metroplex along with Chapel Hill, NC (My apologies to the city fathers of Durham.). It is typical of North Carolina's urban areas - mixture of its old Southern, blue collar roots and a newer growth, youth oriented feel fueled by Northern (Yankee.) and foreign business growth. Definitely a different feel from the old industrial North Shore money feel of NU. Best thing is weather is temperate in the winter with snow and deep temperature dives rare.
