Chryst fired at Wisconsin

It seems firing coaches in mid-season has become more common. San Diego State just fired their OC/qb coach after a lackluster start of their offense. This coming off a 12 win season last year by the Aztecs.

I'm so old, I remember when Hecklinski was a highly-touted QB recruit at Brew of I.

Was

Was Leonard the guy that they wanted to keep (thinking he had a lot of upside and would eventually be a HC) so they let go of Hank?

No Dave Aranda who followed Gary Andersen to Wisconsin from Utah State in 2013. Aranda ended up going to LSU to DC under Orgeron in 2016. And now he’s the head coach of Baylor.

To be fair, in his three years at Wisconsin, Aranda oversaw some very strong defenses at Wisconsin. Over Aranda's three-year span as defensive coordinator at Wisconsin his defense ranked first nationally in total defense, second in scoring defense, third in pass defense and fourth in run defense. His final season with the Badgers his defense came in first in scoring defense, allowing just 13.1 points per game. He was also considered more valuable than Hank, given his recruiting prowess.

I'm just glad (and so is Fitz) that the Badgers had an embarrassment of riches at the time and Hank was made available for us. Had he not been, I guess what we see now is probably what we could have expected for the bulk of CPF’s tenure.

Decline? I would say NU is tanking. That's this week, however. After Wisconsin, who knows? The defense at least made improvement before Penn State. And based on 2020, we know Bajakian is at least capable of producing a decent offense.

I don’t know why anyone saw an improvement with our D. We allowed Miami OH in the last two drives of the game run the ball down our throat even though they didn’t have a QB that could complete a pass at the time and we knew they were running on every down.

Then we “improved” in helping to prevent PSU from baby raping us with the help of a monsoon.

Sorry, but I remain unconvinced that we have improved at all on D since letting an 0-2 FCS team score 31 on us and really since last year.

Odds to be Next Wisconsin Badgers Head Coach courtesy of Bet Online

Jim Leonhard 1/3
Bill O'Brien 3/1
Lance Leipold 5/1
Dave Aranda 6/1
Sean Lewis 8/1
Dave Doeren 10/1
Matt Rhule 12/1
Tom Herman 14/1
Matt Campbell 16/1
Chris Peterson 18/1
Dan Mullen 20/1

Note: This is for next full-time head coach, not interim.

I would take the Loenhard bet (but I don't gamble apart from maybe 200 dollars a year when I visit family in Atlantic City - but no more). would seem to be automatic money - but he is interim and what if they lose all the rest of the games? Or if they lowball him and he goes instead to Arizona State? So I guess there is no guarantee.

Can’t make a cup half full when it’s simply empty.
Cup half full is a metaphor. You are a Kellogg grad, so metaphors may be more difficult for you than most, but WE KNOW THE CUP IS NOT HALF FULL. WE WANT THE CUP TO BE HALF FULL. ACTUALLY FULL. I kid ECat, love ya. :)
