I've seen/heard talking heads over the past couple of weeks float the idea of a College Football Commissioner - James Franklin most notably called for Saban to become "THE" commissioner during one of his Fiesta Bowl press conferences. I've seen other talking heads suggest that all conference commissioners would essentially report to this commissioner, who would be the CFB overlord.
If there's one thing that's true about college football, it's that the people in power are selfish and only interested in protecting their own program's self-interests. It seems/feels like virtually no entity will cede one iota of power for "the greater good." This is why the NCAA (which is just an umbrella organization for ADs and presidents) is such a joke, right? So, am I missing something for how/why the creation of a commissioner would matter?
