Just like Fitz:

"This was an ass-kicking, period," Swinney said. "That's what it is. Just flat-out got our tails handed to us. That's unfortunate. It hasn't happened a lot, but it's happened a few times along the way. We've handed out a bunch of them, too. Tonight, we were the bug. We got the bad end of that deal, and we deserved every second of it."

Clemson suffered its worst loss to an unranked opponent since falling by 24 to NC State in 2011. Although Clemson had to rally to beat Syracuseand remain undefeated Oct. 22, the team had an extra week to prepare for Notre Dame, which had fallen to Marshall and Stanford on its home field.

"This was a really bad day and all the criticism was warranted and just should be directed at me, period," Swinney said. "This is one of the most disappointing days that I've had as a head coach.”

LEADERSHIP. Sounds like a veteran coach that knows how to take full responsibility with all constituencies and continue to lead through adversity. Sh!t happens all the time, but pros accept it and respond without making excuses.

Sounds like a dude who gets a mulligan because he has put hardware on display. Dabo can have a 3 loss season because he has been in the play-offs and is a factor in deciding who is winning the ACC. Can Fitz say that lately?

Dabo makes changes when warranted when things aren't working. And by 'not working' you're talking about losing three games in a year not this dumpster fire we have in Evanston.

Fitz caught a lot of flak for saying we “just had six bad days” when we were 1-6.

Dabo uses the “bad day” excuse after a bad loss to the Noted Dames and is defended by the board.

Go figure.

Clemson is 8-1.

Northwestern is 1-8.

These programs are not in comparable places.

Dabo's program having 1 bad day is in no way equivalent to our program having bad days most Saturdays of the past 2 years.

Because Dabo doesn't lose to Southern Il or Duke. Losing to teams like Notre Dame in prime time is a possibility because they are top programs. Dabo doesn't lose to a team who fired the coach the week before. Dabo doesn't use the same formation and same play over and over and expect to beat a top 5 team. Dabo knows when to punt. Dabo has a field goal kicker.

So yeah... Go figure.

Dabo is also a guy who knows that his coordinators are his bread and butter, and that you must get the best that money can buy to run the operation on the field. Another loss like this and he will turn over one or both coordinators, possibly mid-season.

Alabama is the same story. 2 losses and people are talking about complete staff overhauls.

Expect big changes there too; obviously our goals are different from theirs...
But within the context of our goals, this year and last year are unmitigated disasters that beg for major changes.

The funny part about this...no one is telling Fitz to can his guys after 2-3 losses.

Just gotta know when the soup has gone bad, and stop eating it.
