I wouldn't say I have a "pulse" on quality DC candidates...just curious if anyone here has any particular coach in mind, i.e. someone in between jobs due to a head coach getting fired, or even someone at the G5 level who is turning heads?

I wonder how much he's making now and if he'll be a hot commodity in the off season. Worth noting they were 2-10 last year
Considering his head coach makes about 25-30% of what Fitz does, I don't think money will be an issue. He was already linked to the Arkansas job.

Purdue has hired a coach, a DC and an OC while Nero fiddles.
Damn, that really is eye opening. 😳 Hopefully when Fitz finally unveils his new coaches, we'll say "that now all makes sense", but at this point, it's not a good look.

Either two extremes are in play. Either Fitz has his guy and had to wait til after the bowl game or he has no candidate available at all. Not a good look for Fitz at all if it the latter. The incoming recruiting class would want to know who their Coordinators are before taking the plunge.

Coach Prime has landed his coordinators and 8 other assistants as Rome burns.

Ok if it’s like one guy and maybe his DL coach. What about the WR coach?

In this day and age, who the heck waits for the completion of a bowl to change jobs? I mean, people are leaving jobs and accepting others right and left, almost daily, bowl or not. What kind of made-up old school thing is waiting?

I feel like we are effed. I really hope I'm wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Ir Second. Etc

The fact that signing day is tomorrow gives me some weird albeit illogical hope that we'll hear something "soon."

To the point that several people have made, it wouldn't surprise me at all that Fitz has picked someone who wanted to do the "honorable" (albeit compromising and questionable) thing to go full force on the class he is recruiting for the school where he would be leaving...a fine line between integrity and stupidity.

Any time you can hire a DC with no college experience, you gotta jump on it
I’ll take winners, instead of the chronic losers like most of the guys on this staff. Proven winner as a NFL player and as a head coach. Played in NFL 10 years (10 more than Fitz) and has done nothing but win as a coach. He could have gone to college or NFL long ago, but elected to stay put because he had kids at LA.

PS. If he decides to continue to coach, he’ll probably get a much bigger job than NU.

Hmm

One can hope. Would think he is impossibly out of reach to be NU’s DC and work for Fitz. However the silence from NU and silence from Leonhard on his next move - when he should be a super hot commodity - make for interesting speculation.

Yeah I have pretty low expectations for Leonhard but we can dream. I don't feel like Leonhard need to keep it quiet so they can maintain focus on the guaranteed effing rate bowl. More likely he hasn't decided amongst options

Leonhard to the Packers as DC makes waayyyyy too much sense. Speculation about him coming to NU is worth the paper it’s printed on and that’s about it.

This sentence captures all that is wrong with college football now--"Guaranteed Rate Bowl."
