Tulane QB rated #1 in the portal transfers to Duke. Were we ever in the game for him?
Too bad are alum are all a bunch unsuccessful and broke blokes. Can’t hold a candle to them Duke grads from a school that sold its souls for a MBB program that so diluted their academic reputation and performance that this was the best they could do…I know Diaz can sell ice to Eskimos, but when he is landing the number one QB, this quickly, he is dealing from a very large roll of cash.

The real question is- did we even try? Seems like Braun was a bit too proud about the lack of NIL in the incoming class.
Also limited competition for the starting job a la Raiola at UNLGreat get by Duke. I'll admit I'm at least a little surprised a kid like this settles for a middling ACC school, but can also see it's a relatively easy transition from another academically-oriented school in the south...and maybe the money was right...
Oh, only when you reach 20 years old, you expect $$$ to bring your talents to Evanston? Me thinks you and Braun might be wrong. That is the incoming HS class. Portal is a different animal
Look, I do not know if they tried or not but it would appear that they are willing to use NIL money on portal players. You were commenting on that he was saying that Braun was indicating that were not paying to bring in HS players, That should not have bearing on whether they attempted to bring in a particular portal playerOh, only when you reach 20 years old, you expect $$$ to bring your talents to Evanston? But I guess you believe we have a competitive B1G incoming freshmen class
Why? Does the source of the player matter? Guess that’s what I’m saying. If they are bragging about being tightwads, they are tightwads. Today’s freshmen class is tomorrow’s portal players. If he is known to be cheap, who bothers to answer his calls?Look, I do not know if they tried or not but it would appear that they are willing to use NIL money on portal players. From what has been said on this site, it did depend on which group the kid was in. There have been indications we ready to compete in the area but I have not seen any indication of what kind of offers we have put out or to whomWhy? Does the source of the player matter? I suppose I’m discouraged with the bravado in bragging that he built a class with no NIL. It shows me a guy that is old school in the wrong way. It shows me a mindset that has not surrendered to NIL. And I think that is a loser mindset. From what has been said on this site, it did depend on which group the kid was in. I understand Braun’s point and I think it is impressive that he got about the same ranked class as Fitz averaged without spending NIL. But it shouldn’t be a flex because why not use NIL when they said they were going to get more aggressive?I suppose I’m discouraged with the bravado in bragging that he built a class with no NIL. The people he has been able to land tend to be a level below what Fitz was bringing in. Harder to justify NIL payments for them. Not saying he is right in the new model but it is understandable., And who knows if he had the authority under Gragg (when most of the class was recruited) to do anything more. With our new AD we will have to see what changes are made. That’s ok. We’re are a basketball school until further notice. Thanks PF - you took am upcoming program, made it great and then buried dead at sea. Sorry but PF had it in pretty good shape for last year. He had a viable QB, corrected his mistake at DC and had a great recruiting class coming in. Gragg and Schill buried it. When PF was dismissed, a lot of that recruiting class went elsewhere and replacements no where near the same level and in the months following we have continued to have a pretty big exodus of talent that will be felt for years. Through the portal we lose starters and have gotten back backups. For all the bashing Jake took do you honestly feel that the O was better this year? I still have hopes for Lujan but this past season was not good. That combination was what put us in this positionThat’s ok. We’re are a basketball school until further notice.
