Duke star cornerback Mark Gilbert is out for the season after surgery on his left hip and QB Daniel Jones is out indefinitely after surgery for a fractured clavicle.

We all want them to have full recoveries, but what strikes me as strange is that this information is being released (no HIPPA in North Carolina?). I guess NU fans are used to a different policy regarding player injury information.

We all want them to have full recoveries, but what strikes me as strange is that this information is being released (no HIPPA in North Carolina?). I guess NU fans are used to a different policy regarding player injury information.

These are awful injuries and it sucks that Duke lost its two best players so early. I wanted to see how they could do in the ACC with Jones having another year’s experience; wish them both a speedy recovery.

I don’t think it would be a HIPAA violation unless the hospital or surgeon released this info without the players’ approvals. I imagine Duke’s AD or press department released this, which is fairly normal after season ending injuries (e.g. Wootton’s knee injury & Persa’s Achilles tears were widely reported).
