Our special guests have made significant contributions to Northwestern athletics and the world of sport. Please welcome them!

Scheduled to appear, in alphabetical order:

Brian Kardos, 1995 Rose Bowl Team

Kardos represents the 20th anniversary of the 1995 Big Ten Championship team. The former starting offensive tackle was a beast on the field and a quote machine off it, once saying he would “drink molten lava” to block for running back Darnell Autry.

Joanne Palombo-McCallie, Duke University Women’s Basketball Head Coach

A standout Academic All-Big Ten First-Team player at Northwestern, Palombo-McCallie was named ACC Coach of the Year in 2010, 2012 and 2013. Her team has been selected to the NCAA tournament all eight seasons of her tenure. This included a No. 1 seed in 2009 and four straight Elite Eight appearances from 2010-13. For Team USA, Coach P. led the FIBA U-21 World Championship team to a gold medal in 2007.

Tom Myers, NU Athletic Hall of Fame inductee

Myers started at quarterback when Northwestern football was ranked #1 in the country in 1962. Playing for head coach Ara Parseghian, he quickly earned a national reputation for setting school records. Myers was named an All-American in 1962, and was featured in the football coverage of national magazines such as Time, Sports Illustrated and Playboy. In 1970 he was recognized as an All-Time All-American.

Willie Weinbaum, ESPN

Weinbaum joined ESPN in 1995 and is an Enterprise Unit and New York Bureau Producer of long-form and breaking news coverage, primarily for the "Outside the Lines” and "SportsCenter" TV programs, and a contributor to ESPN.com. For collaborative efforts at ESPN, he has won national Sports Emmys and a Peabody Award last year for the “OTL" series on NFL concussions.
