Would be a disaster under the old rules and may still be, but In the era of the immediately eligible transfer, you just never know how things will play out.
Here's my quick story on Senda entering his name in the portal.
Luckily, I maintained my eligibility. It’s looking good for me suiting up next season.

It’s a shame about the pervasive and escalating culture of hazing within the Northwestern football program over the past decade.
That's not even close to the reason players are leaving, and you know it, or should have known it.
They’re leaving because of Fitz’s departure, and Fitz’s departure is because Fitz pretended he had no knowledge of the pervasive and escalating problem of hazing in the Northwestern locker room, rather than acknowledging his failure and resolving to fix it.
I’d imagine Senda would be here if he knew Fitz would be returning in January.

Committed to Auburn and Coach Hugh Freeze. Wow! That’s how badly NU has screwed this up. A kid like Senda would rather go to Auburn and play for a scum bag like Hugh Freeze than watch this administration screw up NU football more than they already have. Tragic.

Stop pretending you know what Fitz knew. You don't! You're speculating.
All they had to do was talk to Fitzgerald and explain what was going on (if he didn't know) and why it shouldn't happen anymore. New president, new approach, etc.
Then we could all enjoy a much improved football season and know that any problems in the program had been corrected.
