Well, Northwestern is hanging with the big boys for DE Earnest Brown of Denton (Texas) Ryan. I just got off the phone with the 6-5, 235-pounder, who told me his top four schools are Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M and, yep, NU. It's all about relationships for Brown, who said he is "cool" with Coach Fitz, Coach Long and all the players he met in his visit last month. He said that distance from home will not be a factor in his decision.
It may take a lot for NU to get a kid like that -- he has 26 offers -- away from those programs and out of Texas, but he certainly seems to "get" NU.
