Extremely off-topic. Most famous movie line uttered by an NU alum.

OK, I cheated, but since Charlton Heston remains the most iconic Northwestern movie alum, here are his reportedly top ten most famous lines:

If it has to be just one of the following, I'll go with the highlighted one for obvious reasons. :)

“A true man is not afraid to show himself, his inner self. He relies on who he is rather than what he is.”
Gideon (1999) – Addison Sinclair

“One way or another, if you’re persistent, fortune always smiles on you.”
Alaska (1996) – Colin Perry

“I'm a seeker too. But my dreams aren't like yours. I can't help thinking that somewhere in the universe there has to be something better than man - has to be.”
Planet of the Apes (1968) – George Taylor

“There is a beauty beyond the senses, Nefretiri - beauty like the quiet of green valleys and still waters, beauty of the spirit that you cannot understand.”
The Ten Commandments (1956) – Moses

“All border towns bring out the worst in a country.”Touch of Evil (1958) – Mike Vargas

“It's a good way to stay alive while you're at peace.”
Arrowhead (1953) – Ed Bannon

“Love cannot drown truth.”
The Ten Commandments (1956) – Moses

“Oh, there were women. Lots of women, lots of love-making, but no love. You see, that was the kind of world we'd made. So I left, because there was no one to hold me there.”
Planet of the Apes (1968) – George Taylor

“A policeman's job is only easy in a police state.”Touch of Evil (1958) – Mike Vargas

“I have always thought that one should move through life accumulating silent victories. I believe that you are such a man, Gideon. One who walks the quiet road.”
Gideon (1999) – Addison Sinclair

You guys are good. Tough to top Moses.

I was going to go with Apocalypse Now:

Terminate with extreme prejudice -- Jerry Ziesmer.

He was actually an assistant director for the movie. But in 4 minutes of scene presence and one line, he beautifully portrayed the hidden hand behind the black ops in SE Asia.

Anything Ann Margret ever said was better - even with the sound off. I also like Carol Lawrence in "Kiss Me Kate"...hey, maybe I am old and not just aging.

Both of these are from television, but both are now part of the pop culture vernacular.

1) "I just couldn't decide if he was really sponge-worthy."

2) "And that brings us to tonight's word: Truthiness."

"You mean tin cans with particles of tunafish stickin' to 'em? Greasy paper bags stuffed with rotten eggs?"

We have to stay with the original premise here, and it has to be from Planet of the Apes. Second place is "Soylent green is people!" After that it isn't even close. Vargas didn't get the good lines in Touch of Evil.

My personal favorite scene with an NU alum is Garry Marshall in Lost in America, when Albert Brooks tries to get his money back from the casino.

Wikipedia has Ed Wood Jr. attending NU. I'd love for that to be true.

Seconded. That's a great scene, and it's the most Albert Brooksian scene ever.

I looked up a list of actors who attended NU and was surprised I didn't know that Clancy Brown (from HIGHLANDER and SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION) went there. I saw HIGHLANDER at Tech in the fall of 1989 as probably the first and only movie I ever walked into without knowing a single thing about it. Though it hasn't aged well, it was a fun movie to watch as an 18-year-old kid.

How come he's gettin' so smart? I stopped having sex with Ben three days ago and I don't know no Portuguese?

Desert Inn Casino Manager: I beg your pardon?

I nominate Charlton Heston in The Ten Commandments-" Oh &@$#, I can't swim"
