Since the other thread was polluted I'll post a new one. Rough final round for Matt Fitzpatrick at the South Africa Open playing in the final group with Charl Schwartzel. He managed to shoot +1 on the day despite a triple bogey and a double bogey and finished tied for 5th. This will help Matt going forward. Overall really nice performance by the kid.

As distinct from the other thread's "polluting" poster, may I state appreciation for your attentiveness to ex-Cat golfers? I don't follow the sport avidly but do enjoy following the progress of particular players I know of or have met. Having you report on NU's golfers past & present is like having Lunker's insights on baseball program, etc.

Apropos of which, my wife and I look forward next month to seeing the Wildcat baseball team play in San Antonio for a weekend. It should be a pleasant jaunt.

WW,

That is high praise indeed! Thanks! It is my pleasure. I have a strong affinity to NU golf that goes back about 8 years. I follow the team as closely as possible, go to as many tournaments to see them as I can, and keep in very close contact with Pat Goss and some former players and coaches. It is such a solid program run by outstanding people and the players are the finest representatives of NU I can imagine. I will keep posting!

Lipsky is entered in this week's European Tour Event, and Luke is going to play in the U.S. event.

Yep, Luke is playing in 3 of the next 4 events out west including the Sony in Hawaii next week. This is unusual for him. I think the wraparound season put him behind the 8 ball last year in terms of Fed Ex points and he realized he needs to start earlier. I think he's being smart. Can't wait to see the old swing again and how the dynamic duo of Luke and Pat Goss do in getting him back to where he belongs in world golf rankings.
