I did not intend on doing the numbers for this game, thinking our opponent was overmatched, but the Flames had enough talent out there to warrant inclusion in the season's stats.

Windham286053+7-9.34-7.94

This game can be fairly described as a team win. Only Windham had a rough night, playing 28 minutes without making a shot. Nicholson's raw +15 stands out.
Nicholson played 12 segments (each lineup change starts a new segment) and we didn't get outscored in any of those segments.
Of the little lineup notes, Nicholson and Mullins played 7 minutes together and NU outscored UIC 19-11 over those segments.
Both Leach and Mullins played the final 10:46 of the game, so Coach Collins obviously like what he was seeing from those two.
On the flipside, Ciaravino did not play the final 9:07 after committing a silly foul.

I'll add anything I notice later. Just wanted to get the numbers posted.

Thank you, as always.

Not that it really matters, but KJ had 2 points with his 5 assists and 2 steals and 1 TO in 28 mins.

Curious to know who did the scoring during the 7 minutes that Nicholson and Mullins played together (19-11 NU)? Those 2 are quite good defensively, but 19 points in 7 minutes is a lot of output, and those guys aren't scorers.

I'm really happy for Mullins. He has found a role and is now a real contributor. Last season had to be frustrating for him. What little playing time he got seemed to always end with Collins yanking him after either a defensive error or a bad pass on offense. To his credit, he stuck with it and the game seems to have slowed down for him.

Ok, that is really incredible. Great find! Couple that with Hunger's team-worst +/-, and I think we have confirmed (for one game at least) what many have been saying all week, that the team is much better with Nicholson and his D than Hunger and his O.

I'm surprised Mullins was only +2, because the team seemed to really play well with him in the game. On the other hand, UIC did cut into the lead near the end of the game when Mullins was on the floor, so that makes sense.

One last thing: I always look forward to these numbers, and I wish you'd do them even for mismatches. I realize they might be a chore, and also you have to figure out when to "turn off" your counting, which in some cases could be tip-off, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

Either way, thank you for this!

Oh right! 2 for 2 from the line. Apologies to KJ.

all of these lineups had (Mullins, Nicholson)

Berry hit a 3 with (Leach, Ciaravino) 3-2 0:54
Mullins made 2FT, Windham made 2FT, Ciaravino made a 2 (Berry) 6-4 2:58
Martinelli made a 2, Berry made a 3 (Windham) 5-3 1:14
Leach made a 3 (Martinelli, Windham) 3-2 0:49
Berry made 2FT (Martinelli, Leach) 2-0 0:22

So Berry had 8 points, Leach 3, Martinelli 2, Ciaravino 2, Windham 2, Mullins 2. Matt had zero.

I looked at Hunger/Martinelli/Mullins and they played 18 minutes together and got outscored 41-38.
When Nicholson was in, Collins would rest Martinelli occasionally and bring in Mullins.
So Nicholson/Martinelli/Mullins only got 2:25 together but we outscored UIC 10-5.
Nicholson/Martinelli got 12:19 without Mullins and outscored UIC 21-14.

Collins subbed pretty often in this game and seemed to be trying combinations.
Hunger/Martinelli/Mullins/Leach played 14:14 together and won 30-28.
