Game Thread: Northwestern vs. No. 22 Illinois

What a disaster by Lausch. First he gets a delay of game and the. Has no awareness that he cannot take a sack to compromise our field goal range. I think Boe is probably going to win the job unless we get a transfer, which it sounds like we may not be looking to do. Although after this performance perhaps the coaches will pursue a QB.

That missed fg at the end of the half is kind of demoralizing for the team. Afraid we’ll get boatraced in the second half as been the pattern lately.

Three trips to the red zone. Three points out of it.

Lausch makes some nice plays to give us some optimism, and then he throws dumb picks and gets sacked on third down in the red zone. Just so frustrating.

2ND and 5 from the 13 of Illinois and we take a delay of game with 2 timeouts and no one thinks of using one Didn't they see the Bears game Thursday. Inexcusable to have that happen this late in the season.
3 times in the red zone and we score 3 points.

I’m glad they are finally designing plays for Henning instead of the usual flip it out to AJ, and hope he does magic.

Lausch? really? You don’t think that’s the head coach’s responsibility? Braun did his best Matt Eberflus impersonation there at the end of the half. Terrible clock management by this staff cost us 3 or more points.

This has been our track record all season against decent teams. Nothing has changed sadly.

Lausch can take a little heat for ultimately taking the sack rather than just throwing it away

yikes, it is maddening watching this team. Lauschwith numerous starts under his belt, making dumb decisions. As well as throwing the occasional grounder to a wide open receiver. And Yet another makeable field goal missed.

Just dumb stuff that we shouldn’t be seeing on the last game of the season.

Because it’s too much to ask of Lausch to have enough awareness to call the timeout himself? Or enough awareness to know he can’t take a sack in that situation?

So it was Braun who got sacked rather than throwing the ball away? Got it.

Lausch is a good athlete and can make some plays, but he’s not even a mediocre B1G QB at this point, and I question his ceiling. His football IQ is not very impressive from what we’ve seen this year.

It always confused me how we are supposedly the smart school but our players seem to lack field smarts so often.

This shows how clueless you are about football. What yoy tell a first year starter at QB is to focus on reading the defense and the coaching staff will handle the play clock, if needed.

Boe has a much better arm and mechanics..

Losing games is one thing. Constantly giving up big plays speaks to how far we’ve fallen.

What everyone should
Be asking themselves is what the heck has happened to our front seven defensively. Getting manhandled at the line of scrimmage and giving up huge running plays left and right. We have no chance of we can’t stop the run.

Well well.

We haven’t been able to stop that Laufery all game, so we must’ve made some adjustments at halftime. Not.

Exactly. Bastone etal being manhandled

Totally should've thrown the ball away there. FG would've been good from just a few yes closer. But the delays of game this year are maddening.
