We have started seeing the class of 2016 really come into shape. With that, I thought maybe I would handicap our chances with the other guys I think may be making a decision in the next couple of weeks. Click to see tape.

DE Tommy Carnifax -- 75%

He's visiting Duke this week, but I think he ends up as a Cat. He seemed to really gel with Fitz and while Cutcliffe is a great coach, he and Fitz are VERY different.

DT Alex Miller -- 95%

On campus this weekend, NU seems to be a clear leader... shouldn't be long.

QB Joshua Jackson -- 45%

Really starting to think we may have missed our window when Deuce committed and decommitted. While the timing of his announcement doesn't mean a ton (he could have seen VaTech and decided on NU before announcing on Thursday), the family connection with Loeffler and recent visit to Blacksburg makes me think he's slightly more likely than not to end up a Hokie.

P Blake Gillikin -- 65%

NU ties, multiple NU visits, high academics... sounds like an NU kid.

OL Sam Heckel -- 75%

Headed to another camp to take one last shot at getting "big-time" offers, but I don't think they come and he seems pretty high on NU. Gunnar Vogel doesn't seem in a hurry and it's likely first-come, first-served between him and Heckel.

Add it all up and I could see NU having 3-5 more commitments by the end of this week.

Just a gut feeling on Jackson or are you telegraphing some inside info? My intuition is that Jackson is a CAT. One factor that may be overlooked is that he is very close to his older brother who happens to reside in Evanston.

Gut feeling. Jackson's familial ties to Loeffler at VaTech and the whole situation with Wallace just give me a sinking feeling. Would love to be wrong, as I would have put the chances of Jackson ending up in Evanston at about 85% before Wallace's commitment.

247 reports he will make his decision this Thursday.

Looks like you are right on Jackson. Aidan Smith just tweeted that he has received an offer from NU. We would not have done that if we were still in the running on Jackson. Smith has told Lou that he will commit to NU right away. Looks like Aidan Smith is our QB for the class of 2016.

that would make 2 commits from Ft. Wayne, Indiana . . . that's a bit random, no?

Not really... Northwestern should be a presence in Indiana and our recruiting there has ticked up a bit since Springer took over -- I believe that's his hometown, he went on to play at Butler, and he has spent significant portions of his career at Ball State and Indiana.

fair enough, but before this year we had what . . 1 recruit from indiana in the past decade? maybe all the kids who grew up trai essex fans are now old enough to be playing college ball. :)
