Two calls where I seem to be in the minority on this, but honestly trying to understand the opposite side. Not intending to second guess, just curious...
1) Why the need for an onside kick at 2:53 and 1 TO? Given that we had just stoned them prior on three runs + they were not going to put true frosh Taylor in the backfield at that moment, have no idea why announcers and everyone seemed to want an onside kick. We ended up stoning them again, but gave up 40 yards in field position where every yard was a fight.
2) Why not have a punt returner back there? That kick downed at the two is likely a TB (based on spin) with a returner back there (do what I was taught growing up when returning kicks - fake the FC for the halo and pop the first gunner you see).
