The Illini are an absolute dumpster fire of a proagram. Yet in the incoming class they arguably have three recruits ranked higher than any we are bringing in. The most recent a commit, Okpala, a 5.7 with an impressive array of options.
No recent (25 years) tradition of winning
Empty stadium
Head Coach on the hot seat
A compete vacancy at D. Coordinator
An embarrassment of off the field issues
Crap facilities that are being upgraded, but when completed are not even going to close to comparable to what NU has done.
Why on earth is any kid picking the Illini when the flow of kids OUT of the program is steadier than the flow of kids IN?
We’ve seen what a Rondale Moore has done at Purdue. How is a crap program with underperforming people at all levels able to land even a handful of playmakers such as Beason or Williams, while we are seemingly not able to get a real marquee talent (lets just say a Rivals 5.8 ranked kid or above) to pick NU and all the program has to offer?
Yes, I know we have a better class this year. Yes, I know Hunter Johnson may be a program changing talent. But still, when I see that the blind squirrel Illini program can strike gold a few times each class, I wonder how and why we are not able to consistently (a few each class) do the same.
