I hate to feed the Illini Trolls but ESPN just did this . .

NU currently has the no. 11 recruiting class in the nation for the 2018-2019 class. Illinois was relevant when Bill Self was coaching and he brought in Deron Williams from out of state. Since he has been gone and his players moved on (yes Webber did well with the players he inherited from Self), UofI has been a non-factor. Also, the Deon Thomas and Bruce Pearl issues, the resultant probation and the stopping of the Chevy Blazers to recruits dried up the recruiting for years.
The 18-19s have just started committing. That will drop significantly. Only 7 of the top 25 have even committed. One top 50, likely your best recruit ever, isn't going to keep you top 25.

You're saying Illinois has been a non-factor since Groce. Hot take! Maybe NU might be a factor for the only time in their history soon, but let's wait and see.

Remember when we sucked and we never got visitors from the Illini board? The one thing I miss about the Carmody days is not having these Rantoul hicks with their little brother syndrome infesting the board. A side effect to all the winning, I guess. Will just have to toughen up and stomach it.

It is cute when someone has their first "success." Still lost twice to our worst coach in history last season, little brother.

Let's just let the teams play it out. Really though anything over 10 years ago (sports dominance wise) college age kids don't really care about. It's more about who has been good in the last 5. What have you done for me lately culture and also 10 years is around half my life.

That was quite embarrassing to be sure. I'm sure you would have traded those two wins for a ticket to the dance though.

Cute is not what I would describe it when someone must talk bitterly about their successes of yesteryear because of how far they have fallen. Sad, is the word I'd use. Yes, sad. What is the stage that comes after denial? Just look to your football program and follow the steps trailblazed there and you'll find your way.

I imagine you'll respond with some snarky remark about not wanting that because it wouldn't have allowed you to fire Groce, and bring in (drum roll please) Underwood. BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

There is little denying uofI has got history on their side. We frankly haven't been very good pre-Collins. Of course, that means nothing going forward. The facts that we now how trolls shows how far we have come.

As the Kid says, nobody cares about the 70's. We used to always get the career record argument on the football board. The trolls stopped when they quickly learned we would respond by pointing out the head to head records over the last 5, 10, 20, 25 year period.

We simply need to develop that consistency in B Ball and we are in the beginning stages with CCC. Despite the enormous advantages the large state flagship has, we are now a threat on the court and on the recruiting trail. Hopefully, we will start to dominate them like we do on the gridiron.

You guys barely slipped in the tournament in a weak year. You still have everything to prove before you can even call yourself a good program. The worst part for you is that you have to hope you stay in between a decent amount of success and a full turn around. If CC can make Northwestern relevant, he can coach anywhere.

Underwood is a fine hire. When Collins leaves, you guys will have the pick of the litter, and I don't mean that in its typical meaning.

Lol, you pulled both common retorts in one thread. Historical record and CCC leaving. Nice job and very original. IF and it's a big IF, CCC only leaves for one job and it ain't the U of Rantoul. How long did you hold on to Self? I will take two local young successful coaches over two mid 50 something retreads.

Congratulations on keeping score for the last 100 years or so. I'll conveniently ignore the history and focus on what's coming. And what's coming? Pure domination. NU demonstrating to the UofI that we are not just the B1G team of Chicago but of the State.

Good to see that you admit it's inevitable that we will catch up some day. Although, given that the gap is only 90, and we will play short of 2 times a year on average (if I'm not mistaken, there is no protected rivalry in basketball - though I suppose it will be partially offset by the chances that we will see each other in the BTT from time to time, assuming you guys can make it past the qualifying rounds), I figure it'll only be around 60 years or so before we even the mark. You'll probably still be dead, but who knows.

Ok Scooter, you had you turn to be creative and couldn't come up with anything original. Time to change from Orange to Blue scivies and check the crops.

BTW- what is "The guy us"? Is that French too?
