Illinois sells out 34K football season tickets

$175 for 4 games. I paid like $4k for 5 games at Martin for this year.
$4K would buy you an 85" OLED TV and a comfortable lounger, also a season's supply of your favorite beverage, When more than half the seats are in the end zones, the Lakefill stadium is not for me, a better alternative would be a sports bar with other displaced ST holders

Yeah…why waste money supporting our student-athletes in person?

There were 20,000 plus STH at the old Ryan and 12,000 seats at Martin, so there were a lot of displaced STH. I had season tickets since 1999 , although I lived 1,000 miles away , so I supported NU pretty well but I will not sit in the end zone nor pay a seat license

Are there displaced STH's? Asking seriously. I know a lot of existing STHs decided to forego tickets at Martin (kudos to NU for allowing STHs to pause on Martin tickets without losing tenure) but is there anyone on the board (or someone a board member knows) that has WANTED to buy STs at Martin but was shutout by the ticket office because of lack of availability?

There are a lot of ways to displace someone. There were a lot of ways that it was done, I had had 6 ST but was restricted to 4 last year was one, Another is that big games are not even in ST package, Then there are the huge prices for inferior sightlines and product that forced the ST holders walk away and self displace. Doesn't have to be just no tickets available

I’ve never had season tickets for any NU team.
So when you chide docrugby (a long time ST holder) about making other decisions with his money and not supporting the players in person, you do it from a position of not supporting the players in person?

It was tough. Very lame attempt I might add.
When I look at those games in the schedule, cannot say it excites me so while there was some kidding there was also the questioning whether those two games are really anything to get excited about. Probably gonna be blown out by Oregon and who knows about UCLA. No real ties or history with either program

Two highly recognizable programs make their initial visits to Evanston. Both are fresh and exciting matchups.

Seriously. In what world is one of the top teams in the country coming to our place not exciting? It is for me.

It’s a no brainer. Hard to get much more exciting than Oregon. And regardless of their recent record, UCLA still has that cachet. A couple of terrific games at Martin this fall regardless of @hdhntr1’s take.

New turf. Ducks will be fast. UCLA is a cats win!!

Both are ripe for upsets.

The Fake by the Lake (aka Martin) will throw elite programs off their games.

Especially if Preston Stone has got the goods 🏈

I think some of those displaced STH are living in tents on our lake front park.
