The Wildcats have a three game winning streak over Iowa on the line on Saturday. Last win for Iowa was 2015 in Evanston. The Hawkeyes ran out to a 40-10 win.

Prior to this season, since 2015, Northwestern was playing as good as anyone in the B1G West.

Neither team is finding scoring points easy in 2019 B1G play. Iowa averages double what Northwestern, but throw out the stats, since the games are won and lost on the field.

Iowa Kirk Ferentz made his first appearance, as a first year OL coach in 1981. Ferentz became head coach at Iowa in 1999. The 1999 game went down to the wire.

In 1993, Pat Fitzgerald arrived as a player at Northwestern. In 2006, he became head football coach, after becoming an assistant in 2001. He won his first Iowa match up, as an HC.

Both coaches have witnessed either the good, the bad or the ugly, in this series. Iowa typically wins 2 out of ever 3 games, but not lately.

Northwestern continues to have the edge lately, in the series.

Northwestern will have the 2009 team back for Homecoming Saturday.

Certainly, there have been some great runs over the years in this series. Iowa owned a 21 game streak, at one time.

Who would have thought this past week, in Champaign?

I vaguely recall being really surprised when NU beat Iowa in 2006 (Fitz's first season). In a way, that was the win that jumpstarted his career and started the buildup to the 2008 team.
