Law Out for the Season

Oh, there's that other shoe...I was wondering where it had been hiding!

I'm pretty surprised by the doom and gloom.

If you're a relative of Vic Law's, I can understand the absolute anguish of some of these posts. But to try to be objective, the success of this team was nowhere near dependent of the improvement of Law. Demps and Olah ... that's where this team is going. I might even place the improvement of McIntosh, and the adjustment of Falzon on the list of importance before Law's talent ceiling. (Yes, this can be debated.)

If there is one position of strength in this group, it's at the 3. And considering what we've seen and what the coaches have said about Lindsey's improvement, this might be an unfortunate injury that the team can absorb.

I love Law. I love what he has the potential to bring on the court. I love what he's already brought to the program, and I look forward to seeing it next year. But I don't think it's anywhere near impossible for this group to have similar success without him.
I'm buying this. Maybe it's because I have to, but it does make sense.

Interesting comment from Vic in his press conference: he previously tore his right labrum! So this is the second labrum problem he has had to rehab from ......
reminds me of that football player with the ankle problems who was supposed to be such a big star. first one ankle then the other. At least with Law the first one was before NU. Hopefully the repair can be stronger than the original which seems to have a weakness.

Well put. I am disappointed mostly because I was really looking forward to seeing the "new and improved" Vic Law out there, given his gains in strength and having a year behind him.

But we'll just have to wait for that. It's far tougher on him than any of us. Speaking from (too much) experience, being injured sucks. You just want to be healthy again. It's a long wait, especially when you are 20 years old (on the bright side, these things teach you the value of patience and all mighty power of time).

But we have lots of options at the 3.

I kinda think the opposite. I thought this year might be their best shot in the foreseeable future, with Olah and Demps in their senior years and a weaker (than usual) Big Ten. Olah is the key, to me. I know he is often the whipping boy around here, but he can dominate at times and I don't know if NU will get another big body, 7-footer like that.

This should have been an NIT season/bubble team - while there is some depth at the F positions, losing Law's D may be the difference btwn staying on or bursting the bubble (still not saying there isn't a slim chance).

Next likely chance will likely be the 2017-18 season when the 2016 class has a season under their belt.

When I 1st saw the headline - was shocked and then shook my head in disgust (and laughed, b/c should have known things were going too well) and had to step away from the computer.

Fallon's performance in the opening season win is all the more encouraging to help mitigate Vic's absence. Wish Vic Law the best in his recovery.
