Love his D and all around toughness, but I'm hoping he finds a way over the summer to put the ball in the basket. One of eight today from the field, including a couple of point blank shots, and he missed the front end of a crucial 1-1 late.

Law is a better, more polished version of Sanjay.

As much as I appreciate Sanjays contributions, Law is essentially the same guy with better athleticism and slightly better shooting, although not displayed today.

He'll slide into that role next year with Falzon and Rap hopefully adding more offensive firepower to the lineup.

I've been high on him since he was at St. Rita.

He's struggling now. It's obvious.

He's playing like Scottie Pippen before MJ quit for baseball. A clear second fiddle who doesn't want the ball.

He needs to play like the post-MJ baseball Pippen who wanted the damn ball in addition to playing great defense. He's got to take it to that level. He's too good not to.

The other thing I want to see is for BMac to look for the pass on the pick and roll. He's too slow on the pass looks. He misses open guys and commits too many turnovers because he's not looking for the pass. He's playing pick and drive. And defenses known it. He has to pass and pass fast! The whole point of the pick and roll is the pass. He needs to do that more.

Need to post him up more often on smaller defenders (after a switch).

This is not NU's offense. We want the middle free.

Give him a break. He also had 7 rebounds and two assists.

The comparison to Sanjay is stupid, Vic is key. He get the other team's best man every time, defends superbly, blocks out and rebounds. He is the only guy who can defend every player on the other team. He can also get the offense going and handle the ball.

Huh? B-Mac won the game for us, and Pardon was a close second. On at least 2 of the so-called pick and rolls, the picker didn't roll. On 2 others the rollers fumbled the pass. On others, the roller was covered by a Vandy big guy If I were B-Mac I'd keep it myself. B-Mac is the all-time NU assist leader, with a season left to play, and one of the tops in the BIG and the country. Still think he is too slow to make the pass on the pick and roll?

Did you not read my post?

That's exactly what I said. Law does the dirty work. Just like Sanjay, except Law is better in all facets. That's why I said the loss of Sanjay wouldn't be too bad since we have Law.

They'll see better defense by the guards on Mac against Gonzaga. The Cats will need more out of Law on the offensive end to spring the upset.

I did. Vic does so much more than Sanjay. I think Sanjay is great, but not an offensive threat at all. Sanjay will be replaced by 2 larger players than him. Vic will still get the other team's best player, will grab 5 to 6 rebounds, and will get 10 pts. Completely different players, IMO.

Maybe Law has some nagging injury.
He had a really bad offensive game. I highly doubt there is a nagging injury.

He had a really bad offensive game. No doubt about it. But I wish folks would stop overreacting to his bad games. He is inconsistent. There is no nagging injury. He just didn't hit outside shots and he had some bad drives to the basket. He needs to get stronger and he needs to learn how to finish strong around the basket instead of bringing the ball down and trying to shoot around defenders. That will help him score when his outside shot isn't falling. But he was fantastic in the Michigan game and in the first 2 games of the B1G tournament so it's not like he hasn't very good offensive games recently. He was 7-10 against Michigan and led the team with 18 points. He was 10 for 13 in the fist two tournament games and scored 16 and 17 points in those games. I know we are a what have you done for me lately group but that was just last week. And as I have mentioned before, for the season he's the second best 3-point shooter on the team by a significant margin, so he a good outside shooter. He was nonfactor offensively in the other 3 games, so his issue is consistency.

If we want any chance whatsoever of upsetting Gonzaga, everyone on the roster has to have their best game on Saturday. EVERYBODY!!! This means that Law needs to score at least 16 with making at least half of his shots. Brown, Skelly and Lumpkin all need to score at least 8. BMac has to have another monster game. Lindsey need to score about 20. Pardon needs to have about 15 points and 15 rebounds. Tap needs to light it up from three-land for about fifteen! We must play our best game of the year- even better than the Wisconsin game! My buddy from high school went to Gonzaga for law school. He has, for the past twenty years, rubbed it in my face the fact that Gonzaga is (in his pathetic opinion) superior to NU because of their more successful basketball team. He called me today about an hour ago just to pester me about saturday's showdown. So you can probably tell how Sweet a win for us would be for me in so many ways. Quite honestly, my friend is somewhat of an idiot (and an imbecilic lawyer as well). I could not care less about the past. I just want a win Saturday for all of NU's players and fans. Gonzaga is beatable. To hell with the seedings. I say we kick some ass and come out with a win and another advance for the biggest upset in the tourney! Go CATS!!

You have been a take the ball and keep it guy you're whole life No Chores. No shame in that Big Boy. You scored repeatedly and came out on top. I know. I have met your wife.

Easy to forget that Law is a sophomore in terms of playing experience.

Speaking from personal experience, torn labrum scan take a long time for recovery. I doubt Law was able to add any strength during his recovery.
Yeah. That's what worries me about Rap. He is a thin guy and if he is going to play the 4, he is going to be pushed around some.

Demps put on quite a bit of muscle after his torn labrum. IMO, he was a rather physical player? No? Maybe after another off-season of weight training, Law and Rap will be ready to go pound around underneath the basket?

From some brief public comments by Pat Baldwin I think the staff may agree. In discussing getting Falzon and Rap back next year Pat was very excited about Falzon, and more reserved about Rap. Nothing critical; just observed that he would need to get a sense of game play at this level. His expectations-at least for next year - clearly seemed higher for Falzon, which is not shocking.

Is Falzon recovered from his injury? I saw Rap on the practice floor during a story on Channel 7 news a few weeks ago. Might not be a full participant, but at least he was in practice mode.

And there is nothing worse than imbecilic lawyers....if the Zika virus doesn't get us....they will.

And I happen to agree with most of the comments about Law just being off a few games. It happens. He's played very well in others. He'll be back. And when his shot isn't falling he is huge on D and with rebounding. What we would have done for a wing player with his length in recent years. I'm a big Law fan and he's going to have a huge game on Saturday!

Let me attempt to clarify my point on BMac. Nobody is saying he didn't win the game. To the contrary, BMac is doing a heck of a lot all by himself, which is sort of a portion of what I was trying to say. (I don't know what Pardon has to do with this other than he's the guy who flashes open most often and doesn't get the pass.)

On the BMac pick and roll, it's become more and more a drive-first, pass if necessary kind of play. The timing when he does pass isn't quite right because when the roller flashes open, passes that could be made aren't made or are made just a bit . late because BMac is focused on his drive. When timing is off, passes get bobbled.

BMac gets many assists in the offense generally, and scores a lot of points himself from the pick and roll. I don't think he gets as many assists on the pick and roll as he would if he hit the open roller earlier. This was not intended as a knock on anyone. Its clear BMac knows he needs to shoulder a heavy load. This is just a side effect of our heavy reliance on BMac. Just something I noticed on a couple of those bobbled passes you mentioned. And of course, I could be all wrong. There's nothing like being there to see angles and such that TV tends to flatten out.

C'mon guys. Law's offense has been streaky but it'll be there vs Gonzaga.

Exactly. His shooting, like most college kids, is streaky. His D is always solid. It felt like he was a little apprehensive offensively yesterday. He's a fine player! He just needs to keep his chin up and stay positive!
