Now here's a telling FACT for you Mr. Troll.....You don't even have any likes on your own board! Undeniable truth that even the Michigan faithful find you noisome, now be a good boy and look that word up because clearly you do not know what it means.

yeah like Jethro Ahia State fan was. I have enough reasons to dislike Michigag, don't need a poser to get my venom going.

Hey Bubba, how'd you like that dogfight against lightweight Purdue? At least your Oregon win looks impressive, except, Oregon sucks.

I'm super excited about this game as I think Jake Ruddock is not invincible. Iowa, probably has a better QB, though not as good a defense. If Thorson is anything like the Minny game,we will be solid! Go cats! Very excited about this season and very proud of all of our guys on the team.

The only defensive stat that Mike Hankowitz (and everyone else who isn't a troll) cares about:
Scoring defense

#1 NU 7 points per game
#2 Michigan 7.6 points per game

I'm surprised the NCAA page has that for scoring defense, I'd be interested to read their definition. The M defense only gave up 17 points to Utah, which should put them at 6.2 ppg. The other 7 points that game were on the game sealing pick-six.

And our defense has given up one - count it, one - TD on a drive that started outside of our own 30 yard line after a turnover. There are plenty of ways to slice and dice the numbers. So far, we're giving up the fewest points in the nation as a team. And that's that. Hope it's still true a week from now.

Oh I fully expect MOON part 2 for this game or something close to that. Any way you look at it these are both top 5 defenses (and M offense hasn't exactly looked dominant). I'm just surprised at the official statistic on the NCAA page. You would think "scoring defense" means scoring against the defense :)

SOS. Utah is the only undefeated team either has played because Michigan lost to them. Stanford and Duke are both 1 loss teams because we beat them. Stanford, particularly, is playing lights out on offense, with 41 against Southern Cal, 42 against Oregon State, and 55 against Arizona (oh, and 6 against us). This also might be the time to refer you to the last time NU played Michigan after 2 consecutive UM shutouts. (see the other thread).

Oh, and Minnesota is a 2 loss team that went down to TCU (by about 6) and us by 27. I'd say we are doing quite well so far against very solid competition.

The kabobs are particularly tasty when grilled over a nice purple flame.

The problem NU has is offense, not defense. Michigan will score at least 21 at home. When UM stacks the box what will NU do with their last ranked passing attack in the Big Ten?

Right. I wonder if Michigan's schedule would be considered "easier" than NU's at this point (AFTER FIVE WEEKS!) if NU had lost to Duke/Stanford and Michigan had beaten Utah. It's honestly a bit early to use SOS figures I'd say. Though I don't know how they work. Do some SOS calculations take out the result of the actual game played between the teams (so Michigan's at this point would use a 3-0 Utah and Northwestern's would use a 4-0 Duke and 4-0 Stanford)? I honestly don't know.

You do realize those two statements are inconsistent, yeah?

2) When UM stacks the box what will NU do with their last ranked passing attack in the Big Ten?

The same thing we did to Minnesota, when Thorson threw hot reads to receivers in single coverage all day. He only had one throw that could be really called anything close to a "miss" and that came in the fourth quarter under pressure.

It's more the fact that we played EIU while UM played an entirely FBS OOC schedule. We have to give some credit there -- they played a pretty tough OOC schedule.

That said, I suspect that the SOS will be similar at the end of the year.

Bubba, Do you remember me? We met at the Subway on the I-75 frontage road just outside Bay City. I was wearing that famous wolf t-shirt. You had on a "Flat Earth Society Charter Member" hat.

I remember. You kept asking me on a date and I had to keep telling you no. How life going?

That's only because you had a scheduling conflict. By the way, was the Dinos Never Existed Society dinner as well attended as you anticipated?
