They just opened this season, with a new coach, by losing at home by 20 to FCS Northern Arizona. They are terrible, worse than the pessimists feared. They won't be favored to win another game this year; they might have a chance against their rival NMSU, but that's it.

Just something to keep an eye on over the next two seasons.

It turned out that way, but there was still irony in the fact that we lose to the team that was trying to break our own streak. Besides, maybe losing to NU would have demoralized Duke so much that they wouldn't have won the later game.

Exactly. Wins like that can change the outlook and performance of the remainder of the season. It was a terrible loss and a huge win for Duke.
