Northwestern offered Chicago (Ill.) Brother Rice DT King Liggins to set the stage for his visit to Wrigley Field.

I checked in with Chicago Brother Rice defensive tackle King Liggins about his recent offer from Northwestern, his ongoing recruitment and his upcoming visit to Wrigley Field.

Wow, that’s exciting. Local kid who says he’s been working toward this offer with his grades, after getting several B1G offers including Iowa and Wisconsin. Hopefully he can see the opportunity and positives of the program and defensive coaches despite the likely outcome of the game….

Recruits have to qualify from an academics standpoint. I assume it won’t come as a big surprise that NU gets motorboated. Probably think they can close the gap. Can’t recruit in fear.

Generally, our best classes accrue when we land our top Chicago targets. This kid is a player. Probably could start as a first year.

What is your scouting report? I know you are the big ugly guru, so curious what you see to think he could start right away?

What is your scouting report? I know you are the big ugly guru, so curious what you see to think he could start right away?

1. It's junior tape, which means he has another year of development ahead of him.
2. He looks legitimately to be his listed weight of 270. Safe to say not all "good" weight, but he's just a big thick kid who is not encumbered by his size.
3. He moves very well and shows plenty of strength, handling lots of double teams on tape. Looks explosive enough to play 3T.
4. He's going against Catholic League 7A competition.

Always uncertainty as to how well his strength will project, but he's a very good prospect for us.

EDIT: I should also add that he has a great name for a DT
