I would think the team is good enough. Does the unavailability of WR play into the invite?
 
I feel like the construction, the leftover emotion, and maybe in some sense, the "WNIT isn't good enough" were all factors.

I would be interested to know if NU got an invitation and turned it down, or whether they were not invited in the first place.
 
I can't imagine any possible way they wouldn't have been invited. They'd have been one of the Top 16 teams AND have one of the best players in the country.

Not sure about top 16. Are we talking about NU WBkB?
Per coaches poll, they are in the "received votes" category. I guess they can rightfully claim to be at least top 40, which is more than enough for post season.
EDIT: It seems they stopped receiving votes a couple of weeks ago. Anyhow, the likes of Sagarin seem to have them ranked in the 50's, still good enough for postseason.
