This is the one that has intrigued me all along. With all those names on his list, I just don't see how NU comes out of this one as the choice. But NU, MSU, Missouri and Purdue have been consistently on his list from the start, with NU and Purdue ALWAYS mentioned the few times he has talked.

You'll see in the write-up that he has official visits planned for Purdue and MSU. If he doesn't announce MSU soon after this visit, forget it. The kid has been on that campus too many times not to have his mind made up. I believe this is his fourth or fifth trip. As I said in the past, I don't know how it can take anyone that many trips to be convinced of MSU.

Also, if I remember correctly, I think he said he's looking for a chance to be a point guard in college and playing time is important. At 6-6, I wonder how many schools want him at point guard. But maybe that idea has evolved this summer.

I admire how quietly this kid has gone about his business. There doesn't seem to be anyone with any true knowledge on this one. Also, the lists in the last couple weeks have been all over the place. I'm interested to see where this falls.

Also, he just seems like a good kid.

Chris Collins is in his ear! I think we will land him. I really do.

That would be huge, hope we do. Thanks for sending the update. 6'6" is a tall college PG... I don't really know his game though.

Though personally this is only secondarily interesting, I'd rather debate what whose preseason predictions were or weren't last year, and whether someone did or didn't say something about 5th year transfers.

Reactions: IGNORE2
a) Eastern is retweeting Boiler fans' idea of this recruiting class and talk of a Final Four.

b) He still has an official trip to MSU planned.

c) I saw two different local publications recently list the same four schools - MSU, Purdue (both always in the mix, and I'd bet always the two schools to beat), Missouri and - here's the one that kills me - DePaul. REALLY?

Joe Henricksen in the ST reports his list is still lengthy and "others" are involved besides these schools.

Bottom line: I think NU is screwed with Eastern. I'll go with the upset and bet Purdue gets him.

Why are recruits still selecting Purdue? Their guys come in highly touted but they aren't leaving as lottery picks like they did in the old days. If I were Eastern, it would be MSU or bust.

Sure seems like if he were going to spring a big surprise and pick NU there would be a bit more of a rumbling

Well hopefully we get some good news on the bball front soon

Painter has had a good program at Purdue although they really laid an egg in the NCAAs last year.

If he is looking to play point guard and playing time is important I do not see why he would be considering MSU. They have Winston (5 star) and Langford (4 star) enrolling this year and are recruiting 2 other guards in the class of 17. Both of these recruits are rated higher than Eastern. I believe he would be fighting for playing time.
