As promised, here's the snap count info on the offense from week 1. Breaking it up between offense and defense because it's a lot of data. Also, it takes me a lot of time to copy all this into a spreadsheet from the website. I'm not paying for the premium PFF subscription, so I don't have access to the week by week breakdowns and things like that, so I have to copy all this into Excel and run the numbers myself. I'll post defense when I get to it.

I'm also going to post threads on the PFF grades, to come later. Again, I understand that the grade data some are interested in and some aren't, but the snap data is objectively useful.

I'm going to TRY to do this every week, time permitting.

NU had 85 offensive snaps, 39 pass plays and 46 run plays. Given they ran 10+ straight running plays at the end of the game, they were quite balanced throughout, actually passing a bit more than running. Love it.

QB
H
ilinski played all 85 snaps, including the wildcat snap out wide.

RB - 98 snaps, 1.15 per play. 9 slot, 7 wide.
Hull - 51 snaps, 25 running, 24 receiving, 0 pass blocking, 2 run blocking. 5 in the slot, 3 out wide, the rest in the backfield.
Porter - 39 snaps, 20 running, 19 receiving, never blocking. 3 times in the slot and 1 out wide, the rest backfield.
Clair - 6 snaps, 0 running, 5 receiving, once run blocking. 1 in the slot, 2 out wide.
Tyus - 2 snaps, both receiving. 1 out wide, 1 in the backfield.

RB notes: Clair played less than I'd have expected. Loved to see Hull and the other backs mixed around in WR positions as well, which we definitely see reflected in the numbers. Not much 2 back personnel though.

WR - 218 total snaps, ave 2.6 Wr on field per play. 145 wide snaps, 66 slot snaps, small handful of backfield snaps.
Washington - 69 snaps, 34 receiving, 35 run blocking. 45 times in the slot, 21 times out wide, 3 times in the backfield.
Navarro - 62 snaps, 28 receiving, 34 run blocking. Wide 56 times, slot 6 times.
Kirtz - 44 snaps, 27 receiving, 17 run blocking. 41 wide, 3 slot.
Gill - 21 snaps, 9 receiving, 12 run block. 19 wide 2 slot.
Niro - 14 snaps, 3 receiving, 11 blocking. 9 slot, 2 wide.
Genson Hooper-Price - 4 snaps, 3 receiving, 1 blocking. 3 wide 1 slot.
Bacon - 4 snaps, 3 receiving, 1 blocking. 3 wide 1 slot.

Wr Notes: Ran pretty hard on our main three guys with Niro and Gill getting a little bit of run. Slot and wide distribution is as expected. Nobody really seems to be a blocking specialist... except Niro, who only ran 3 routes... but what an impact in those 3 opportunities. We mostly played 11 personnel.

TE - 91 snaps, 1.1 ave per play. 13 slot, 4 backfiled, rest inline.
Gordon - 41 snaps, 18 receiving, 1 pass blcoking, 22 run blcoking. 33 inline, 7 slot, 1 backfield.
Lang - 50 snaps, 15 receiving, 3 pass blocking, 32 run blocking. 42 inline, 6 slot, 2 backfield.

TE Notes: Lang played the most, but Gordon had the most pass catching opportunities, which makes sense from watching the game given Gordon seemed to do more with them. This one is going to be interesting when I post grades since i think there will be some disagreement. Again, looks like we're overwhelmingly in 11 personnel with a second running back slightly more often than a second tight end.

O Line
The starting five of Pete, Priebe, Schmidt, Wiederkehr, and Rowley each played all 85 snaps, and no other O linemen saw the field. Obviously this level of consistency played into their extremely high overall level of play. Grades will be fun to look at on this one, there's been such development, especially by Schmidt in pass pro and Priebe everywhere.

Picozzi - 19 snaps, 2 receiving, 1 pass blocking, 16 run blocking. 18 inline, 1 backfield.

Picozzi wore #84 and came in to play blocking tight end a bunch. Not sure what's up with the pass routes they said he ran, but this was a way the Cats got more beef on the field.
