Ohio State not looking that impressive

They had a defensive touchdown on a bad screen pass and two long TD passes on terribly blown coverages by WM, but otherwise, they are not exactly dominating this mid-level MAC team. WM was moving up and down the field on them, but had two costly holding penalties kill both drives in the red zone (one took back a TD). And, then, WM's kicker is atrocious. This game is much closer than the scoreboard suggests. Two weeks in a row of struggles with a MAC team.

Either is Minnesota.

The Big Ten is very, very winnable for NU if their offense can just be decent and they stay healthy.

What team really is looking that impressive? MIssissippi beats a horrible Vandy team by 11 (maybe a post-Alabama letdown), Oregon killed by Utah (which actually has been pretty good), Alabama up by just 14 at half against a directional Louisiana team, TCU edges Texas Tech in a 55-52 defensive struggle, LSU wins but gives up a ton of yardage against Sorry-excuse in a 34-24 win, Michigan State up just a TD on Central Michigan well into the fourth quarter etc.

While emotionally I would enjoy OSU winning by 50+ points, in the long run I'm very content with how the season is going so far.

The defense despite a hick up here and there, has been playing outstanding. The offense put up nearlyy 600 yards of offense at Virginia Tech and yesterday in what looked like a sub-par performance for them, they run and passed to over 500 yards of offense. Against Hawaii they won 38-0 on 3 days of preparation and rest. Average teams don't do that.

The talent is there and part of the problem is that there has been an attempt to rotate a lot of players in and out, because of the depth in talent. As the coaches figure out who will be their go-to guys this year, you will see less rotation into the conference games,

As long as they don't lose, I'd rather see the team give the coaches opportunities to coach up the team, pick up momentum, and peak at season's end. As opposed to peaking now, and struggle at season's end.

But I am glad to see the Wildcats doing well and some of your fans getting the confidence (and or cockiness) in the team back. If you do keep winning and you all start looking at potential road blocks to a Big Championship, you may start disliking me again ( or maybe some of you always have), but it makes these boards much more interesting.

Yeah... my guess is OSU will be just fine. They just have too much talent. I'm sure there is some figuring out how to best utilize that talent. They miss their big play WR from last year it appears. Plus, as NU found out, it is hard to get fired up to play these MAC teams. The bottom line is that both teams did what they had to do and will likely improve as they move into the tougher part of their schedules.
