We have had Directv ever since they first started. At the time we lived on the mountain and had no other way to get TV service. We currently live in the Bellevue area near Seattle and I was wondering if Comcast has improved enuf to be worth considering. We have already decided to use Comcast for internet and phone as DSL isn't very fast in our neighborhood and the previous occupant had Comcast service. We have had a few technical issues with DTV since our last move so I would finally consider switching.

One issue with Comcast has been the overflow channels in FB season. Does Comcast carry them reliably? Is their cost competitive? I gave up trying to talk to them on the phone as I just get a super salesman who won't give me a straight answer.

Hey Seattle_cat.

Used to be a diehard DTV guy, but since we moved to the PNW, we've been forced to give it up based on line of sight issues and high speed internet access/bundling.

With the recent addition of digital streaming with the B2Go network, access to the full programming is pretty good. Used to drive me crazy when the NU games were on the secondary channel and i was left with no options/no sports bars to watch the game. Access is definitely much better, especially with the digital streaming options on both B2Go and ESPN360, each supported with a cable subscription.

If possible, i'd stay old school with an upgraded TIVO receiver - the Comcast HDR DVR is marginal, and the X1 platform is OK but has a few funky bugs.

I have always loved DTV but it is getting too expensive. My son recently got a digital antenna for all the local major networks and uses Apple TV and streaming for the rest NO CHARGE! That is in Utah, but I think times are changing in how we view TV.

We do make extensive use of the DVR, and it works well. There are a couple other channels that are "essential." ESPN, HGTV and Fox Business News are a few of those. BTN and FBN are part of a premium pkg with DTV so that increases our bill. I certainly would like to reduce the bill! Our bill has gotten too high. Where we live we could probably get local channels with an antenna, but those cable only channels are an issue. Once we get our cable internet going I'll look into getting the cable only channels that way.

I am a die hard DTV viewer with 16 receivers. I can't imagine using another service. I had Cox Cable before DTV and service was ridiculous.
