They certainly could have afforded live-in help but what I’ve read they were very private and probably became too isolated as they aged. Too bad friends/family could not have intervened sooner. Articles have said their home won design awards in the past and Gene’s wife was very involved in the design and decoration. Gene was probably incapable of getting help on his own if he had fallen given his age. A mystery so far what happened but they were a close couple. She helped him with the books he wrote after he retired from acting.Anyone else been following the details of his/his wife's/his dog's deaths? Very peculiar. My early thought is she/dog may have died from a gas leak or something in a tight space and once she was gone, he was a little out of his mind and couldn't take care of himself/didn't have his wits about him to call the police or medicate himself.
