OT - Nebraska sells 83,000 tickets to volleyball game at Memorial Stadium

The event is tomorrow, August 30. Pretty cool.

Gotta hold onto something:
Of all the things that captivate Nebraska sports fans, it's their attendance records. A few years ago, when the football team's six-decades-long sellout streak was in jeopardy, boosters and corporate sponsors bought unsold tickets to keep the record going.

Football content: In the ESPN article, Nebraska AD Trev Alberts also makes an aside about the relatively impossibility of Husker football making it through the first four weeks undefeated.

Thinking of going to the NU/NU matchup here at Cabot Gym. Guessing attendance might also be 83,000 (minus the 000). Sept 9th for anybody in Boston then.

Nebraska has a long history of excellence in women's volleyball. I attended the tournament when it was held here in San Diego back in 2001 and it was an exciting event. Nebraska was one of the 4 finalists and had a huge turnout. Their fans were very friendly. Olympic team member Logan Tom led Stanford to the championship title.

“Led by future Olympians Logan Tom and Ogonna Nnamani, Stanford stunned previously unbeaten Long Beach State in the title match. Long Beach State was attempting to become the first program to go undefeated in more than one season, as they went 36-0 just 3 years before in 1998.

“On their way to the title, Stanford was able to knock off defending champion Nebraska in the national semifinals. The other semifinal participant, Arizona, made the program's first NCAA Final Four appearance.”
